Angie Morocho 11/16/14 Should students at WBA be allowed to listen to music in their core classes? Some parents and teachers think that students who listen to music during their class time will be distracted and won’t be able to focus on the lesson they are being teached. On the other hand, some parents and teachers think that students will do well and are able to focus better. Both sides of the argument have good reasons but I believe students at WBA should be allowed to listen to music in their core classes. Music is believed to help focus better in their task.
The two big options are often certain sports programs, or the music and arts programs. Sports tends to bring in more money to the school, so many schools have kept them and completely done away with their music and arts programs. But why? Sports may bring in money, but music can be so much more beneficial to each individual student. Music has been shown to help cognitive growth, help students understand other subjects such as math and language, and teach very important life lessons.
1. amount of water 2.amount of sunlight 3.type of plant 4.kind of soil 5.the pot All of these can affect or make a difference in the results of the experiment. PART 2 PURPOSE:My fellow peers and I are trying to find out Can music affect how well we concentrate and does the genre matter? The students at school at complaining because we can’t listen to music in class. Most students claim they can concentrate better with music. RESEARCH:I would do research on the way our brain concentrates ,surveys of people’s opinion, other scientist results.
Ever since then, every grade level has to take a state test. Many public schools had to defund the arts programs to improve the state test scores in the required subjects. Schools that are performing the lowest are pressured to concentrate on having more qualified teachers to teach reading, math, and history classes rather than art, theater, and music classes. Kathleen Manzo with knowledge of education and social policy finds the problems is that the budget cuts and the shortage of teachers will cause less time for the resources that can be used in the art programs. Without the arts, the school is reducing the capability to give young students a complete education.

The high school plan is still under development and revision, but these students are provided Honors, Honors Advanced and AP classes. I am reviewing the plan for Clinton City Schools. I was very disappointed with the CCS plan. There were several areas that I felt were in the proficient category, but there were more developing and not evidenced at all. 2.1.1 Educators develop an environment that encourages giftedness
They were one step closer to making it to the top By the time griffon got into high school he decided that he needed to take some designated classes, one which would help him find a career. He took a test in this class that said that his career would be in artistic fields. He also took guitar, choir, and business classes. In order to become a musician you don’t need education but knowledge is strongly recommended because in the music business you are your own boss. The reason why high school courses are important is because the more education you have the more a record company will want to hire you.
There still continues to be some students who are constantly being suspended for different reasons at the school. I would try to devise an incentive program that would help with motivating students to want to stay in class and learn. There is currently a positive behavior intervention (PBIS) system in place but there needs to be things added to make it more effective. There are currently grade level PLC teams at the school but I would try to find a way where there could be another PLC team where the teachers in specific subject areas can get together and meet (i.e. all math teacher, science teacher, etc).
11) noted that negative music experiences in school have left many primary teachers “with little or no musical self when considered in a teaching context”. But when it comes to teachers - and music specialists in particular who have few formative primary music experiences to draw from - Drummond (2001) suggested that this lack of experience negatively influences how they view and teach the subject professionally: highly-trained teachers of music were shown to be teaching their music lessons with uncertainty. However, Koutsoupidou’s (2005) quantitative study about musical improvisation in English primary classrooms found that 81% of teachers in the study uses improvisation in the classroom yet only 19% experienced improvisation themselves as pupils at school. Although, the same study found that teachers avoid using improvisation due to their lack of personal experience (77%) and their lack of familiarity with improvisation
“Take courses in music and band to learn something about instrument, voice and music theory” (IResearchNet). Getting to know music, as a whole, is one of the biggest parts that makes music producer to appreciate the music that their making. “Learn as many music genres as you can, including classical and jazz. Because music is often affected by social issues, courses in journalism, government, and history provide useful background knowledge” (IResearchNet). A huge part of music producing is being open to music, different genres, and the different people that will be working with.
