George speaks on behalf of Lennie. “Why don’t you let him answer?” In this scene George shows that he cares about Lennie and therefore speaks on behalf of him. He knows that if Lennie talks then they might not get the job but if he works before he hears him talk, then they are set. He admits to the boss that he isn’t “bright,” this shows that George is honest to the boss and not over exaggerating Lennie’s intelligence. George is a character who doesn’t take advantage of Lennie’s misfortune.
It is important not to speak out of angry emotions, and again sometimes it is best to tell an employee that one may need to think on the matter first before responding. While it may not seem like a "big deal" it is important to make sure that the words that are used when speaking to employees are simple and clear. Some employees may not understand the use of large words, and therefore the message that the manager / supervisor is trying to convey may be lost. Good grammar is also a must for every type communication. Use of slang terms is not a wise idea, as what is acceptable in generation / culture could be offensive to the next.. We must make sure we are saying exactly what we mean to and clearly enough that so that others are going to hear exactly what the manager / supervisor is trying to say.
What this does is show the employees that they do not have a set code of conduct to follow. A system such as the one in place can discourage those employees that strive for excellence on the job. A new system is in order here. Employees that receive a poor performance evaluation should be put on probation immediately. The next step should be for the supervisor to ask questions and try to develop a good rapport with the employee to see what is going on in their personal lives.
Leadership and Teamwork in the Public Services. P1 Authoritarian- This style is used when leaders want their employees to do something, they tell them how they want it done and how they want it accomplished, without getting advice of their followers. This style is more of a bossing around and unprofessional style. Democratic-This style is used when leaders want to include one or more employees in the decision making it is not a sign of weakness, it is so that the employees will be more confident with their own ideas and decision making. Decision making with your employees will let them gain respect for the leader and become more determined.
People in such organizations operate in a “win-lose” framework and believe they must work against (rather than with) their peers to be noticed. An overly competitive culture can inhibit effectiveness by reducing cooperation and promoting unrealistic standards of performance (either too high or too low). I never had to compete with another engineer but sometimes you have to call on a senior engineer for help. You never want that person to out shine you in front of your customer. So you hope your problem isn’t so big that he has to come on
Why is the lawyer so concerned about the change in his behavior? The lawyer does not even want to fire Bartleby even wants to keep him on the staff. I researched this information further to find out, why was the lawyer keeping him on staff if he was not doing his job? The lawyer felt that if Bartleby was employed by someone else he would become mistreated. The fellow workers were upset by his refusal,
He cannot see that he did anything wrong when he fired Eva smith- he was just looking after his business interests. An example of him putting his business first is when the Inspector asks him why he didn’t give Eva more money. ‘Well, it’s my duty to keep labour costs down, and if I’d agreed to this demand for a new rate we’d have added about 12% to our labour costs.’ This shows a clear understanding that Birling only thought about his business and was very selfish towards his work. He wants to protect is reputation. As the Inspector’s investigations continue, his selfishness gets the better of him: he is worried about how the press will view his story in Act 2, and accuses Sheila of disloyalty at the start of Act 3.
The employees may feel a certain way about the layoff of the co-workers and also it may effect how they work. Also another thing is the loss of valuable and knowledgeable employees may affect others too. The new hire people will have no one to ask if they do not understand or know how to perform a task asked of them. This can cause serious problems for productivity and for the patients at the clinic. The last disadvantage I think will be a problem to the Dodge Clinic is employees seeking employment elsewhere because they do not feel there job is secure.
team appraisals can sometimes be unjust, because one or two people could possibly slack when it comes to performing their job and make the team look bad. The organization wants all employee’s to benefit from the great effort that they put into performing their job; therefore they should be evaluated separately. A generic appraisal form for each employee seems to be fair it shows each employee his/her weakness and strengths allowing room for growth if needed(Fallon & McConnell 2007;
336). It is up to the leader of a virtual team to choose the correct communication medium or combination of communication mediums to quickly and effectively resolve issues that are causing low morale amongst the team members. The team has been successful but James Dion is sowing disharmony by complaining about work related issues and issues that are not related to work. The manager should send James an email and let him know that he is doing an amazing job on team projects. He must find out what is going on and ask him why he is complaining about work related issues and issues not related to work.
