It is very interesting, because as stated earlier, photo bioreactors are the leading prospect to grow algae, and Professor Yildiz, a Cal Poly teacher is the inventor of this great piece of equipment. Since his arrival to Cal Poly, the U.S. department of Agriculture has been awarded grants to help fund the project. Not only has Professor Yildiz helped the world change towards biodiesel fuel, he has also helped his students get jobs and be admitted to grad school because of their research for change
Schoolies Problems: Alcohol - Widely considered a week long alcohol binge, schoolies week is most criticized for excessive drinking and problems that flow from this. In 1995, 75% of male schoolies and 53% of female schoolies report being drunk most or every day or night of Schoolies Week. More recently laws have been changed at a Federal level increasing the tax on pre-mixed spirits, and at a state level in Queensland to focus on parents supplying alcohol to their children in an irresponsible way. Fines issued by Police related to alcohol laws have raised considerable funds for state governments, particularly at Gold Coast Schoolies year over year the policing of these offences has increased and the revenue has increased proportionally.
Growing up, I have always considered that taking care of our environment is a very big deal. I have been a big part taker on saving the world by recycling, until last year I wanted to do more than just recycle the paper and bottles in my house. Interact International is a club that reduce, reuse and recycles all the paper and bottle from my school. I loved joining this club; the people who ran it inspired me to do much more, especially the women who lead everything who is Mrs. Mecham. Every Tuesday, the club meets up and we have announcements after that each student goes off into groups with a cart that has a route which sends them to different classrooms to pick up paper, bottle, cardboard boxes and more.
We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The biggest barrier of entry that I can see with this event would be the fact that there are a few well known named events that deal with the cause for cancer, and to be able to promote to our audience that this one is beneficial as well. Possibly being able to tell the history of the YMCA we could attract the “COMMUNITY” as well as local diocese in the area.
The responsibilities in this facility are also much more problematic but just as gratifying. Some of the volunteer opportunities include reception and welcome center, marketing and event planning, grant writing, corporate sponsorship, compound maintenance, and animal care. The shifts of volunteers vary from morning to overnight shifts and a volunteer must commit sixteen hours a month, attend training shifts from 9am-1pm, and must be able to offer one consistent day per week for the first three months. For students and individuals who hope to use the experience, for their passion in wildlife biology, can use Back to Nature as an
(About us: a history of forest schools, 2012). In my placement all the children completed a task where they had to go and collects different type of leaves. From this task they discovered nature and felt the texture of different leaves so they bonded with the nature and used the leaves usefully to make a poster. Next time we’ll take them to a history museum trip so that they don’t feel school is boring so they are encouraged to attend school every day. A child centre approach is good because it has a positive impact on a child’s emotional and social well-being as it increases the child’s
Day of Silence participants encourage schools to implement proven solutions to address anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment. 4. The day is a positive educational experience. A lot of people ask, why silence? Isn’t the point to try to stop silence?
