How does one define these traits? Merriam-Webster defines being noble as “possessing, characterized by, or arising from superiority of mind, or character or of ideals of morals”. Virtue is defined as conforming to moral and ethical principles, “morally excellent: righteous.” Virtue is doing what is right in spite of difficult circumstances. Each of these women has been defined by having or exhibiting virtue, morally excellent behaviors, high moral standards, and some degree of righteousness. Because of their individuality, I have chosen to interpret the very similar qualities of nobility and virtue in different ways for each woman.
At the temple of Meryre both Akhenaten and Nefertiti are shown enthrones. Along with this Nefertiti was beloved by the people and held great sway over them. All of this would have made her a great candidate for a co-regency. If this is true, it means that Akhenaten’s relationship with Nefertiti grew to a level where it became political. The quote “… at hearing whose voice the King rejoices, the Chief Wife of the King, his beloved, the Lady of the Two Lands, Neferneferuaten – Nefertiti, May she live for Ever and Always.” From an Amarna inscription indicates that Akhenaten relationship with Nefertiti was not only through their children, equal on both sides and political but also romantic.
The three of them eventually find this place and are amazed as to what they find. The rest of the story focuses on major societal themes that Gilman wants to explore. These include gender roles, society, religion, and education. The first theme, and most obvious, was how Gilman uses the topic of gender roles to make a point to society. She shows us how in the land of Herland that women can do everything “man” can do and to somewhat degree, do it better.
I believe that feminists and their movement did do a great deal of good for our society as a whole. We as women are treated with respect and fairness and are considered and listened to. That, I think, was the positive effect of the feminist movement. On the contrary I can still say that I think it did somewhat weaken our family bonds and structure that was originally established in the
Ashes for Beauty there are only gainers and no losers. The program is designed for positive outcomes. The girls that will be mentored will gain knowledge, self esteem, confidence and the true meaning of self worth. Ashes for Beauty will provide mentorships, counseling, workshops, group meetings, and referral services to the girls (and parents) who participate in the program. The program will be beneficial to the girls because it will allow them to feel accepted for who they are, not having to pretend to be someone they are not.
Although Daoism inherited some social biases against women, it allowed them to play a vital role in society. The influence of women on the growth of religious Daoism is undeniable (Despeux & Kohn,
Women’s Rights Women’s right’s activists, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Sojourner Truth, in their passionate works of literature, “Ain’t I A Woman?” and “The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions,” both express their views on the rights of women. Both of them agree on the fact that women should have the same rights and be treated with the same respect as men. The two authors adopt an ambitious tone in order to appeal to similar feelings in their adult readers. Each author creates the same basic argument: women should have rights equal to those of men. They use very compelling phrases to support their equal rights theory.
written by Katha Pollitt, the obvious and underlying question is whether women are morally superior to men. More specifically, Katha Pollitt brings up the idea of "difference feminism” and asking if it really takes place. "Difference feminism is known as “a woman naturally being superior to men because of their empathy, nurturance, nonhierachial relationships, and concern for equal”(http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/feminism). With "difference feminism the previous is true, rather than men being superier due to cultural and societal norms. It was very interesting to see Katha Pollit’s arguements as opposed to the other’s we read previously. I chose the quote above because it showed that women should not use their stereotypical strengths as an argument for equality.
I love to speak my mind and that is something that will always be the same about me. My Sister Mandi Valdez is a significant person in my life not just because I look up to her as a role model but because she has shown me that I don’t need somebody to make me happy, that I as a person can make myself happy by just being
According to Kotler (2003), empathy is a deep-rooted value in cultures marked by femininity. Empathy refers to the provision of caring and individualized attention to customers (ibid). empathy of a brand also denotes kindness or goodwill on the part of both consumers and marketers. For marketing to be effective, exercise of goodwill by each party to the relationship is therefore arguably essential. Hence, empathy and a social spirit of a brand are likely to act as a key success factor for marketers operating in a feminist culture like
