Conclusion Introduction The aim of the theses is to outline the life of one of the greatest novelist, Sir William Gerald Golding. The theses focuses on his very first novel called Lord of the Flies. The novel can be described from many points of view and I call these points layers of the novel. The novel is very edifying and also readable, moreover, it gives very important messages to the humankind. Sir William Gerald Golding (1911 – 193) Life Sir William Gerald Golding was an English novelist, poet and playwright. He was awarded Nobel Prize in literature. William was born in Newquay near Cornwall. His father was high school teacher and affected William by rationalism. He, however, did not accept such thinking and went to study natural sciences. It didn’t last long; he changed the subject and started studying English. He finished Oxford University and after a few years of acting, directing and producing theatre plays he became a school teacher in Salisbury. He served in the Royal Navy during World War II and participated in many important battles. These five years affected his thinking and were the main motivation to write his most successful work Lord of the Flies. After the war, he returned to Salisbury and went back to the high school teacher profession. He also started writing for living and eventually stopped teaching career.
