If I get drafted to go to war it would be a hard decision to make if I would go or not because you may never get to come back alive. Thinking about it I would definitely go to war because it’s the right thing to do. If you love your country why not go to war to defend its freedom for your family and every citizen that lives in it. Your country is your home a real man would do anything to defend their home. America is a free country and I agree with the opposing person that wouldn’t go because it forced on them.
During WW1, men over the age of 18 would fight for their country. Whether that was fighting in the front line, or working as a doctor healing the wounded soldiers who fought in battle. However, there were some people who simply did not want to fight and refused to have any input in the war effort. These people were called Conscientious Objectors. ‘Conscies’ as they were known in the time of war would refuse to fight because of several reasons.
The citizens of the United States of America probably wouldn’t have their rights today, if soldiers hadn’t fought for America. Soldiers risked their lives and left their families by going to other countries. Everyone who fought or is still fighting for America is a military hero because they are a very important part of American history. Americans need to always honor their military heroes. People aren’t forced to join the armed forces; they volunteer.
The mark left on them will always be there whether it be physically, emotionally, mentally,or all of the above. Once war touches someone, engulfs them, or merely brushes past them it sticks to the person never allowing them to move on and return to the way it used t be before they were put through such an experience; once that happens there's no going back. Ernest Hemingway's writings such as The Sun Also Rises, "Soldier's Home", and "In Another Country", reveals to the readers the struggles in which Veterans face after the war. The main characters feel alone in the world because society does not understand them nor do their families. They feel as though that the only other people in the world who can understand them are other war veterans.
The cold truth, being that the loved ones back home are left broken hearted, as they are told that Father, Brother or Son have been killed at War, serving for their Country. They gave their lives for the people back home... but what for? I do see the honour in fighting for something you believe in, and being ready to make a difference. It is just I simply do not see the honour in a violent battle that leaves many dead, injured and mentally tortured. The soldiers become puppets, and it is someone back home in their warm and comfortable house, pulling the strings.
In Hemingway’s first novel, The Sun Also Rises, distinctive characters convey the theme of the story, sense of moralities of the lost generation during the post war. Almost all characters in this novel are injured somehow physically and psychologically. They are not able to live their own lives and show the lack of morality in many ways. Four characters, Jake, Brett, Count, and Mike each have a different code of morality or immorality. Their way of living should not be respected, but it is true that each of them is somehow struggling with their lives The antagonist and narrator of the story, Jake Barnes, experienced World War I as a soldier.
They do get a bunch of respect though. They risk their own lives in order for us to have all the rights and privileges that we take for granted each and every day. Without the veterans we wouldn’t be off too well. We would end up like other countries- controlled and not able to make individual decisions. People like this should be recognize and not ignored.
It just shows the carelessness that people have instilled in their minds. In my opinion their is no excuse to be late, and their sure as hell is no excuse to slack as a United States Sailor. I really hope that sailors today can realize how great of a opportunity they have been given to serve our great country, and once our shipmates realize this they will understand how important every little detail that has to be payed attention to. The phrase "Attention to Detail" is by far one of the greats and most important phrase in the military. Attention to detail is by far the most important thing
I don't support the troops, America, and neither do you. I am tired of the ruse we are playing on these brave citizens in our armed forces. And guess what -- a lot of these soldiers and sailors and airmen and Marines see right through the bull**** of those words, "I support the troops!," spoken by Americans with such false sincerity -- false because our actions don't match our words. These young men and women sign up to risk their very lives to protect us -- and this is what they get in return: 1. They get sent off to wars that have NOTHING to do with defending America or saving our lives.
Joe Bonham was a soldier who almost lost his life fighting for his country. If he wasn’t unconscious when the bomb dropped and he lost his legs and almost died, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be thinking for himself, ’‘this is great, I fought for my country and died with honor.’’ Almost everybody wants to live and taking another persons life is to me the worst think anybody can do. There is not anything worth killing for, not democracy, not peace and certainly not when u have the intensions of
