Why study Socioloy Why study Sociology Studying sociology is an important subject and skill for any student to learn. To know and understand the teachings of sociology and how it can impact our everyday lives can make each of us better understand each other and become better people overall. This paper will discuss how sociology plays a part in a career in Graphic Arts, the importance of sociology in our personal lives, and why it is a good idea for students to study sociology. In the professional field of Graphic Arts an artist will be working with many people with different backgrounds and beliefs than their own. Knowing sociology will help a graphic artist in their career by teaching them that not everyone has the same visions, beliefs, and opinions as everyone else. A graphic artist will come across a variety of people in their careers and every one of them will each have their own way of doing things or opinion on how things should be done. Our job as arts working with a client is to give them what they want, not what we want. One important thing to consider in the graphic arts career is demographics. A graphic artist that typically works with a certain age group or certain type of professional will eventually have a job that requires a different age group or different type of business that they will need to do research on and find out more information about. For example, a designer typically creates websites or posters for a lawyers office or adult professionals gets a job to create a design package for a pre-teen/teenager clothing line, if the graphic artist knows nothing about this age group then they will need to research websites, magazines, and other locations that strictly target this age group to come up with the best design for their client and the clients customers.
