Why study history Cole Marlatt Period. 7 we study history because it's easy to understand the past in order to understand the present . We have learned how events from the past affect us today, and from that we can guess how the things we do now can and will affect the future. One reason why we study history is to see how history repeats itself. We need to learn from our past mistakes. As we look at history we can see the trial and errors of man has made throughout our life in this world. From this, we recognize what things wouldn't work if we try it because it already failed in the past. History also provides a unique understanding into human nature and human civilization. Without study of history we would not be able to find out the past about ourselves our even are ancestors, our country or even the world Another reason that I feel history is studied is to enrich the mind and appreciate the past. In most types of history classes, you learn about previous cultures and their ways of life. Often, when a culture is presented that is much different from the current way of life, people are in shock or even disgusted at the way other groups lived. The purpose of historical findings and inquiries is not simply to present facts but to search for an interpretation of the past issues Another reason why we study history is so we could understand other people from other countries. In the real world, we'll have to work in our jobs with other people who are from different cultures. It is important to understand their background because it's much easier to work with the people. It's better if we are not as closed in as we are to other cultures because that way the working world would be an enjoyable place to work in, and we'll be able to make more friends that way. The last reason why we study history is because we have to preserve the events of the past.
