Nowadays many people sympathize with pets. Among domestic animals, dogs are the most accepted, mainly because of their noble characteristics. Those qualities not only made them gain a place among pet lovers, but also within the media industry. Some publicists have found interesting what dogs represent for the majority of people and they decided to use it in order to catch the audience’s attention. Moreover, dogs are so much popular that many publicists feature them not only to advertise dog products but also to publicize many other types of merchandise. Undoubtedly dogs are friendly, loyal and simple creatures. For that reasons, it has become more and more frequent to see them on television commercials. Dogs are man’s best friends and publicists know that. For that reason commercial makers employ dogs not only to produce commercials related with dog products, but also to create advertising campaigns that have nothing to do with that breed. For instance, there is a security company commercial starred in by a German Shepherd Dog. In that case, the publicist related the unconditional friendship and loyalty of a guard dog with the product. The commercial pointed to the wide range of people who like dogs. Its purpose was to make viewers associate the noble characteristics of that dog with the final product. Dogs do not complain or criticize and that is why many commercial makers like to work with them. For instance, a publicist described how he felt about working with dogs. He explained that when working with people, sometimes it is more difficult to match exactly the client’s expectations. But he never faced that kind of problems when working with dogs. He expressed: “Dogs are lovely creatures; they are so natural and spontaneous that it is easier to work out what advertisers really want”.
