Music is definetly one of the most important things in my life. From an educational aspect, music is proven to enrich math and reading skills significantly. Music is the international language, through it you can communicate any emotion, event, anything with anyone of any culture or language. I can listen to one song and feel like crying, then turn on another and feel ecstatic. Music is a way for me to express myself. I can be myself when I am playing/singing music, because music is what you feel so you can’t be wrong. It is a way for me to express myself and learn who I am. I learn so much through music. I learn to be independent. I feel important because my part is needed for my group to perform to their full potential. Teamwork is something else I learn from participating in music. Everyone in a music group is working together to present a piece as best as we can. Music teaches me to accept criticism and improve on things that I can make better. Doing music programs, I can do music competitions. I am a very competitive person and it is wonderful to be able to use my competitive nature towards performing. Something else that makes music very important to me is the acceptance I find through participating in music programs. Finally, music is important to me because through music programs friendships are amazing. Friends I had before I started music programs I am now so much better friends with through participating in music with them. I have made so many new friends, of all different ages and schools through music programs. Our music groups at MJHS have formed a family. We all love and support each other and have all become amazing friends. Music is one of the most important things in my life.
