Whether specialized , enlarged, or enriched , however , workers still generally have had specific jobs to do , and these jobs have required job description . In many firms today , however, jobs are becoming more amorphous and more difficult to define. In other words , the trend is toward dejobbing. What is job : Job is generally defined as “ a set of closely related activities carried out of pay , but , over the past few years the concept of a job has been changing quite dramatically. As one observer put it : The modern world is one verge of another huge leap in creativity and productivity, but the job is not going to be part of tomorrow’s economic reality. Employees work under several team leaders, keeping different schedules, being in various places and performing a number of different tasks. Hierarchy implodes and gives way to a flexible set-up. P&G : The company optimizes organization design & work process to unleash full potential of employees . So, while the job description may look like a standard role on the surface , there are ample opportunities for working in diverse teams and on diverse assignments and for job rotation, flexible locations , career development and growth. Microsoft : Frequently deploys project-based assignments as the essential building block. These projects keeps evolving and membership keeps changing. People work on discontinuous projects with a diverse mix of people across functions, divisions and geographies. Apple : The nature of the duties keeps changing . People do whatever needs to be done without being selfish or shirking responsibility . There is a lot of flexibility and work goes beyond the ambit of a job description.
