Why Jesus is Worth Imitating In this course I've learned many things about Jesus and his teachings. Although I don't consider myself a religious person, Christ is someone who is worth imitating for quite a few reasons. Throughout his teachings and actions in the Gospels Jesus shows who he really his through his actions not just his words, and there are many of examples of this. A teaching of Jesus that helps me better understand who He is, appears in Matthew 7:12:“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” This verse helps me understand that his intentions were to better everyone around him and not for personal gain. This really speaks to me because I see so many people who are selfish, so it makes me want to break away from the norm. My interpretation of this verse is to treat others how I want to be treated, because in turn they will have the motive to do the same to me, whether it be good or bad. I try to live by this in everyday life. To imitate Christ exactly is considered impossible by most people, but that doesn’t mean it’s not something we shouldn’t try do. In Matthew 8:2-3 Jesus cures a man with leprosy. This also helped me understand that Jesus was selfless. I aspire to be as selfless and forgiving as Jesus even though it can be difficult. I hope that in my efforts to do this I influence others to do the same. If everyone were as selfless as Jesus, then the world would be a much better place, that’s why we must change ourselves before we try to change other people. Reading about Jesus in this course helped me get a much better understanding of who He was. This course helps me do that because we read from the Gospels every day, and we have class discussions about it. One example of a discussion that helped me understand this was when we discussed why Jesus told people
