In class we all as a whole had to read, "The Lord of the Flies", "The Catcher in the Rye", and "Macbeth". All of these books were amazing to read but when it came to writing the essays for them, I believe that my favorite and most interesting was "The Lord of the Flies", which is one of my favorite books to this day. "The Lord of the Flies" had such a brilliant story line and it kept me interested as I read on. Junior year was a big year for writing essays because of the two regents that were required that year for us. The regents for junior year was, the English Regents and the U.S. History regents.
Multiple people who have already graduated with their MSN or DNP have mentioned that buying a prep book for your licensure exam and reviewing questions r/t whatever topic you’re studying in class can help you retain the info better. Basically, the more different formats you use when studying (online quizzes, reading, taking notes, powerpoints, etc. ), the more you’ll retain. 8. Grad school papers are scary.
For many graduate students they already have full times jobs and families which can make pursing a difficult task figuring out how to manage home time and school work. Its important to remember which “Grad school requires taking a long term perspective on time. Use a yearly, monthly, and weekly calendar ("Time Management Tips For Graduate Students", 2013). In the essay, Aria, he was forced to study English and Richard Rodriguez resented the loss of intimacy in the family. However, he, later, discovered his love in books. Richard Rodriguez switched from hating English to fall in love with books. Education has changed his mind; therefore, changed him. He confesses: “What I am about to say to you has taken me more than twenty years to admit: A primary reason for my success in the classroom was that I couldn’t forget that schooling was changing me and separating me from the life I enjoyed before becoming a student” (598).
One of the biggest and most obvious goals I have set would be graduating high school. This should be a pretty easy goal to accomplish but I do need to watch myself in some of my classes. Some of the big things I need to do to meet this goal are improving my neatness, not being lazy and actually turning assignments, and trying to study as much as I can. The hardest of these will unquestionably be turning in my homework. I’ve always had a hard time turning in any homework and this is the year I need to start doing it.
Final Paper My Thoughts on Ideology and the Class This English class, specifically Ken McGraw's English class, had quite an effect on me. I really liked how the discussions of ideology expanded my interpretation of the world as i see it. Everything i see from being with my family to reading fiction books has changed in my eyes. Something that i really enjoyed was coming to class, and hearing everybody else's views on what ideology is. It was different to each person and i guess that is kind what the definition of ideology is.
Another reason students join CAB is for the planning of events. Most people I know get excited when planning huge, fun events. While planning these events, you may learn tips on how to plan and coordinate events for later in life. You also get a chance to meet famous artists such as Ludacris and The Fray during the week of Spring Fever, which is another reason why students join. Jarred Denzel stated, “I joined CAB because I was new transfer student and I wanted to make friends and I got on the executive board for CAB because they pay for your tuition and we have more responsibilities than the regular CAB
Some chapters that really spoke to me would be the chapters on time management, getting good grades, and working towards success. I really paid attention to the time management section the most. Since I really like to be active and busy all the time, I tend to bite off more than I can chew. I need to find a happy medium between working and playing. I am going to use some techniques described in this section such as scheduling early classes, studying in between classes and when I am studying, actually focusing.
Since the way I approach my research it helps cover a lot of ground in limited amount of time giving me time to focus on other issues in my life like work and my kids. I am also able to do multiple assignments in a short amount of time so that I can finish them on time, hand them in and receive a good grade on the assignment. The way COMM 150 has affected the way I think about academic integrity and giving the proper credit to the ideas of others is that those people are helping me by publishing their work, so they deserve the credit for doing the hard labor that I did not have to do. What I mean by that is if I put in the time and hard work to put together something and someone else used my work and did not acknowledge me as being a help source I would get frustrated and upset. So I have no problem giving credit to where credit is due.
Going into AP English class, I knew there would much to learn and that I had much room to grow. After looking back critically over the work I had done throughout the first semester of my junior year, I realized that I have already come a long way. After looking back at the comments Mr. Murphy had written about my writings and the notes I had made to myself, I noticed that my conclusions, thesis, organization, word and verb choice needed work. In contrast, some positive aspects about my writings were good insights, citations and flow. When looking back on my old free responses the reoccurring weaknesses were my conclusions and thesis statements.
