Nash helped people remember all those who influenced the revolution that were lost in history amnesia. Such influences were common farmers who created mass mobs and in short did almost “civil” acts of militia men. As Nash wrote in the secondary source, the men “turned the city upside down,” meaning Boston. In a letter written by Governor Morris in New York, writes his comments on the “mob.” It goes as follows,”the heads of the mobility grow dangerous to the gentry, and how to keep them down is the question.” Riots were all along the north and seemed to have affected New York in this pressing matter on taxations. In Nash’s article, many Aristocrats feared the impact the riots would have on other groups such as those that are slaved.
These first acts of hostility between tenant and landlord began the Anti-Renter movement in the Hudson Valley. Along with the Anti-Renter movement, there were other similar events occurring. There was a continuation of racism against African Americans as well as general conflicts between rich folk and poor folk. Even more specific, there was conflict between factory laborers and factory owners/supervisors. As with the rest of the chapters we’ll find in this book, the theme stays the same: differences bred conflict, and as this chapter states, that conflict could lead to another Civil War.
1 Essay 3- Topic #4 Violence and Competition are Everywhere Whether it be through news stations, videogames, TV shows, movies, or sports, Americans are constantly being exposed to violence. Especially in sports, not only is there often verbal violence among the fans, but there’s even physical violence when it comes to the competitive aspect between the players themselves. For this reason, the youth anxious to become part of a team have been converted into spectators rather than participators. Author Michael Kinahan’s satirical email entitled “Losing is for Losers,” discusses this topic of violence and competition and has the reader believe that America is noncompetitive because competition often involves violence. Chris Jones’ essay “In Defense of the Fistfight,” also revolves around the topics violence and competition, but takes a different perspective.
By having several conflicts involving Atticus, the suspense increases. When the first crowd collects around the Finch’s porch, they express their discomfort about moving Tom Robinson to the county jail. This sparks the chaos the future has. Later on, the lynch mob gets to Atticus one night in front of the county jail, and this creates a more ominous scene. The lynch mob surrounds Atticus and hides “him from view.” This conflict states the disapproval of some members of the society.
I also knew that gangs appeal to young people because there’s a lot of power that you get. Almost all the people that join gangs have no idea what they are getting themselves into. Before my group and I started our research about gang violence we had a few questions. Some of our questions were- why do people join gangs, what do they offer, what do they do, and how do they get into the gang? While we were researching we found almost all of the answers that we needed.
According to Wikipedia Encyclopedia, “[CSI:New York] is much bloodier than the Miami version…” I can say from experience viewing CSI: New York, it is more graphic than CSI: Las Vegas. They go into an in-depth look at how the victim was killed, and the murder weapon was used. As if that’s not gory enough, they tend to show those gory scenes many different times througout the hour-long show. The reason why I don’t think that CSI: Las Vegas is that bad, is that when they show the gory scenes over and over, they don’t take an in-depth look at how the murderer killed the victim with a fork, and sliced through a main artery, like CSI: New York
In my opinion these school shootings would be more likely to occur in a society that traffics constantly in extremely violent media images, versus a society where such images don't occur at all. I don't know which is worse: two teenage boys gunning down there classmates, or the constant bombardment of the story, by the media. What I think can be done to solve this problem, for one Congress could step up political and legal pressure to more effectively limit and regulate the production and distribution of media violence. The mass media should cover stories like this, but there is no reason for it to be on the front page of every newspaper and magazine in the country. It was tragic, but there are far worse things going on in the world right now.
If we are to believe popular social media both the riots of 1981 and 2011 were the result of a race war between select ethnic groups and the police, that has been happening in England for the past 30 years. But how do we know this to be true? We have to look past these excuses and look deeper into the problem. Do certain groups of the population blame those in authority of being racist and having heavy handed tactics because police are targeting them because of their race or is it because they have committed/or suspected of committing a crime in the first place. But what truly is the police’s role in such matters to the main populous, by the doctrine it is to serve and protect, and to provide safety for the community from those who are
When the police arrived at the scene Peter gets away leaving only Anthony and Cameron in the car. Because of the incident with Ryan and Hansen Cameron gets angry and verbally assaults the police officers when they asked him to get out of the car. Hansen told the police officers that he knew Cameron and persuaded them to let him go with a warning. Cameron Stopped to look at Anthony and told him “You embarrass me, you embarrass yourself.” In conclusion, Cameron is trying to make Anthony understand that they are consequences to his actions. What Anthony did make people believe that African American males are more likely to do crime and are gangbangers.
The wind blew them around; the officer was becoming impatient. As quickly as he could, he scrambled to pick up the papers, but it was too late. The officer raised his gun, and shot him in the head. Chiara jumped and squealed I had to punch her, to keep her calm. I heard mum’s shrieks from the stairwell.
