There are many reasons to why many implements have fallen apart in this novel. The most changing event to have fallen apart in the book is when the new Christians came to Umuofia. From this quote you can see that what was happening was not a good idea and who was in the missionary, “the arrival of the missionaries had caused a considerable stir in the village. There were six of them and among them was a white man.” (Achebe 1959, pg. 144). These missionaries had told everyone about this new God that created the world and all the men and women. After that day, many people had converted into their new religion, Christianity. The crazy thing is that even the people from Okonkwo’s clan had even converted into them. This affected Okonkwo because things were falling apart for him, his family and friends, and Umuofia. All of this brought an abomination to many people, including Okonkwo. Okonkwo had changed dramatically. He started out with a different personality and did not end with the same at the end. Okonkwo was known throughout the whole nine villages and beyond that. He was known to have a angry and infuriated personality. Okonkwo did not have a soft spot in him. All he cared was about violence and being a great man. But at the end Okonkwo changed his personality and ended up confused, disconcerted, and divergent. This was all because of the District Commissioner.
