College is often referred as a door to multiple pathways. Pursuing a college degree is believed as a good investment in the future since employment in jobs with better benefits awaits most college graduates than those who are not. A very difficult question to ask is what’s the reason behind this if finishing a degree in college has great possibility in having a good job afterwards?
If College students have their different views of college, they might as well have different reasons with regards to this. These students might have an urgent call in the industry, academic disqualification, and some other kinds of pressure every people encounter in life.
Surveys about the dropping out of students resulted in many reasons. The top amongst the reasons in dropping out is financial pressure. Financial pressure is very common nowadays. We can’t hide the fact that people desperately need money to meet their needs. This results in having jobs whether part-time or full-time. College, in turn, is expensive. Students need money to study leading most of them to work and for some to drop out and work instead.
Another top reason is because of failing, also known as academic disqualification. If a student fails a subject, say math or English, he or she needs to retake it. This means money is involve since the student needs to pay for it the second time. To avoid this, each student must keep in mind that college is a whole new different level compared to high school. Each subjects getting more and more serious and tougher.
Although some people have their negative view of dropping out in college, some took dropping out as an advantage. Take Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg as an example. All of them are College dropouts. They have shown the world that dropping out is not a negative act. They prove that the time spent in class is better spent elsewhere. Whereas, focusing in their own project has given them more of great results, it has brought them success.
