The religion spread very quickly because of four main reasons, the military, trading, the religious appeal, and the order it gave. The first was Islam spread so quickly was because of the military. As document D states the muslims were not allowed to attack each other which made they unite into one army and then raid other non muslim communities to spread their new religion quickly. These raids quickly turned into something else as the entire Middle East was being attacked by the Muslims. These raids spread the territory from the Middle East, to Africa, and finally to Spain (Document C).
B) The Arabs knew that their enemies would get lost there. A network is an interconnected system. The roads and sea routes between major cities that trade goods back and forth makes up a true network. The Muslim trade routes make up a true “network” because they followed the trade routes eastward from Africa, westward from Asia, and across the sea. Muslim traders advanced and took control of established trade routes on both of the continents, according to Muslim Trade Networks, in order to expand the network of trade they already possessed.
DBQ: Patterns of Trade from 1000-1450 Between the years 1000 and 1450, trade networks throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia were established and thriving. European and Muslim influence was working its way into Africa and China via the world trade network. Of course, these contacts from trade left cultural consequences in the areas they assimilated in to. The documents allude to Muslims having a greater influence and cultural impression on their contacts than the Europeans did on theirs, who emphasized religious conversion and admiring the goods and cultures that interested them. An additional document from the perspective of an African or Asian merchant would be useful, as the documents given only showed perceptions from Europeans or Muslims.
This would cause the establishment of banks and the sakk, a forerunner of checks. Trade across the silk roads and Mediterranean Sea, agricultural success, and the establishment of advanced business practices in the Byzantine Empire and Muslim world show the similarities that both civilizations possessed. Today’s world is still influenced by the cultural achievements that the Byzantines and Muslims contributed to society. The Byzantine Empire valued education and set up state run schools for its citizens that studied the Greek classics. Architectural advances were also made through establishments like the
The major religion of Islam became strengthened by merchants along the Silk Road. Islam was often spread through missionaries, but it was mainly through the help of merchants. Due to the trade along the Silk Road, merchants were successful in encouraging Islamic beliefs to the rest of the world. However, although there were changes between materials and cultures, the Silk Roads had a continuity of purpose. From the beginning, the Silk Roads were used to transfer goods to and from Europe and Asia.
20. The expansion began with Muhammad traveling from mecca to medina. He was able to expand his empire because of muhammads 4 rightly guided caliphates which taught people to act good and defend their country and because of the muslims offering opportunities to persecuted people. Muhammad later came back to Mecca and took over the people inhabiting it. He then built a vast and prosperous empire.
The Kings were converts of Christianity just to establish closer relations with Portuguese whereas Chinese has great problems with the exclusivity of Christianity but the Jesuits were respectful of Chinese culture and won a few converts. China had an outstanding naval capacity in the early 1400s and the Chinese used a tribute system as a basis for trade and restricted access of foreign traders to Chinese markets, particularly by limiting them to specified ports under controls established by the central government. China experienced economic changes,
Mecca is located in what is now present day Saudi Arabia, about half way down the Western side of the Arabian Peninsula. The Kaaba, the black Islamic stone shrine established by Abraham and Ishmael, is located there. Mecca is deeply rooted in tradition, and the stones and Kaaba were erected or associated with Holy Ground, where individuals had a dramatic experience with God or Allah as he is called in Islam. During the time of Mohammed, Mecca had became a easy stopping place for the caravans and merchants along the spice trade which brought new wealth, foreign ideals and social values to Mecca. Being the stopping point brought to Mecca a host of undesirables such as; merchants, prostitutes swindlers and gamblers, whose social values would clash with that of the Arab Bedouin, who clung to traditional ideologies (Grand Canyon University, 2010, p. 1-2, para.
Be sure to discuss continuities as well as changes. Beginnings of Islam in South and Southeast Asia Many different versions of how Islam spread to South and Southeast Asia. America was a land of opportunity in its own way. It offered religious opportunities to people. For example, when some religious groups were persecuted for their beliefs, they decided to come to America under the leadership of their strongest believers. Some lived there happily while others questioned the laws and beliefs of their own leaders and ran away to find their own countries, which had their own specialties (examples are: New England colonies were good with manufacturing and fishing and the Middle colonies were good at farming. There were many other reasons that people moved to America.
