In the past, boxing was probably one of the most important sports in America. Everyone wanted to watch them fight and they didn’t care how much it cost. It also got the community involved. For Example, In Ron Howard’s Cinderella Man, It shows James Braddock, a regular person during the great depression that struggles to pay bills and maintain his family, want to box to get money. He gets his chance to box and he excels and proves everyone who doubted him wrong.
Douglass was able to overcome slavery, King helped to end segregation, and Obama is our nations first African American President. These three men never took the easy way of doing things, they were very persistent, and ultimately changed history for the better. Although Douglass, King, and Obama all lived

Freedom Summer was extremely important to the Civil Rights Movement because not only were unregistered black voters encouraged to register, but the persecution of black voters in the south was brought to the attention of the media. This in turn brought attention all over the United State and the world. The movement helped destroy the Jim Crow Laws and gained momentum for a further movement.
When Frederick Douglass addressed the audience with his speech, it was very emotional and straight from his heart. As we all know, he was a freed slave and mainly considered his “slavery” as not being able to read and write, until his white master’s wife taught him to do so. With Douglass becoming a freed man and moved up North to pursue the life he dreamed to live, all he wanted was for the rest of the African American slave population to be free as well. Douglass believed that everybody had the right to succeed in society; he never understood how our country was founded on freedom but not everybody was free. Throughout Frederick’s speech, he repeatedly would ask the crowd uncomfortable questions and somewhat “guilt-trap” the people, example being “This Fourth of July is yours, not mine.

There were many sacrifices that African Americans have made it out poverty. Through all the negative statistics and discrimination black economic empowerment has continued to overcome and survive depression, recession, and recovered. African Americans were the most integral part of the economic history of our nation by creating economic growth and development in ways that were not acknowledge by white society. A few major points are: How Mr. Frank known as Free Frank a saltpeter minims and production operation owner bought his own freedom then bought sixteen other family members as well as founded the town of Philadelphia, Illinois in 1836.
His refusal to give up and even die for the sake of this “holy cause” is very moving and brought people to oppose slavery. “All men are created equal” as stated in the Declaration of Independence was not entirely true and Garrison stood by that and the truths of divine revelation (Document E). Another important piece of literature that brought attention to life as a slave was a narrative from a slave himself, Frederick Douglass. Douglass was a former slave who fought with a white man who oversaw him. This specific fight made Douglass very eager for freedom.
Men, women and children alike are all entitiled to their moment of freedom. From the richest kings to the poorest souls in this world we all have a claim to freedom, freedom that we are deprived of because of our leaders hunger for power and authority over the minorities in our nation. The idea of nationalism is that any person, who believes in their country, that it has potential and strength to grow and become strong, will fight for the country. They will dedicate themselves to their birthplace, their home. The person will be dedicated in fixing any faults that the country may have. The colonists did not see that the black nationalists saw them as a fault that needed fixing. (Source B) The colonists (or the main fault) did not realize the many mistakes they made when they colonized Congo.
My father is embodiment of the Dike family and worked hard to come to America. My father’s side was always full of hatred and turmoil and it was rough for my father growing up. Despite all that my father was able to bring my mother to America, but the most devastating thing happened. When my mother married my father and by the way she carries the Nwosu name her shoulders as well and another thing both of my parents have in common is that they are both the oldest in their respective families and I commend them for all they have done to unite the two most powerful families to make peace in my village in Nigeria. Like I was saying earlier the most devastating thing to ever happen in my family, is that my parents both went to prison on some drug charges.
Without the push and leadership displayed from these leaders who dedicated their lives to ending the horrors of slavery, segregation and unfair treatment the United States of America would not be living a fair life of equality and privilege. These 3 civil rights leaders and activists changed the way black Americans were treated and gained respect and acknowledgement of their lifetime of struggle with the white society. The civil rights movement of 1964 changed the laws regarding black Americans but of course it is impossible to change everybody’s state of mind on the issue. So as of today the coloured people still are fighting for acceptance from some people and are still waiting for the day when they can have total acceptance, as Rosa Parks quotes “I do the very best I can to look upon life with optimism and hope and looking forward to a better day, but I don't think there is any such thing as complete happiness. I think when you say you're happy, you have everything you need and everything you want, and nothing more to wish for.
