The more they practice and the more teachers and parents instill this in their minds, the better they will become. Perfect practice, makes perfect. Most people would probably have trouble with trying to remember how they learned to read. I would have to say that I am a person who loves to read and I think that is it really an amazing thing. Also, I am someone who is involved in education and research and I think that it is amazing how learning to read is said to be a talent that it potentially impossible.
This would be a great chapter of the book for parents to read because it would help them to understand why the school is doing what it is doing. There may be a lot of different things going on when it comes to discipline that a parent of a student with special needs does not understand and this chapter could given them a good insight to the reasons behind the actions. Also it would give parents the resources they need to maybe challenge what the school is doing if the school does end up over stepping their role in disciplining a student
She explains how her son’s English teacher with unusual way instead of moving him to front row made him to be more serious about learning and specific English .The result was unbelievable, he finished that class with A grade .First Sherry was shocked when the teacher said “I flunk them” then she realized that would be helpful for her son. I would want to have done the same things once I have my own classroom and I feel fairly passionate for students to understand and develop tolerance towards people who may be different than themselves. I feel that as teachers, we can take action to really mold our students to grow and be better individuals living in this world. I really do believe that issues in the matter of race/ethnicity and culture has to do with educating oneself of these things and practicing the basic matters a person should carry with themselves. There are many ways I could serve other with my education, by doing my work for this country, by serving the ones that are less fortunate than I, and to teach the next generation of not just students, but also people that motivation and inspiration are the keys to success and that they should never give up. First, I'd try to do my work in this world by what I am taught in my classroom and applying it to the real world. I would use the morals that my teachers use in the classroom in a world that desperately needs my intelligence, and my sense of service. There is no justice in this world and I would use my education to try and apply it to where it needs to be like: in the world, in the courts, in the prisons, in the fields, in the study and in the classroom, at home and abroad. A second way I'd use my education to serve others is by serving the people that are less fortunate than I am.
Wayson also spoke about teacher student relations and how to open your classroom for more effective learning. He talked about not embarrassing a student, but in turn seeking alternate ways of getting your message across. This is something that we have touched on throughout the course, but something I feel to be very important. I think its imperative that as teachers we think about what our actions have the power to do. At the elementary level, we are shaping how students feel about themselves which can affect them the rest of their lives.
The second TESOL goal is for the ELLs to use English to achieve academically in all content areas. The last TESOL goal is to use English in socially culturally appropriate ways. Even though the standards that TESOL uses are extremely helpful, they still don’t give teachers enough information they need to make sure that ELLs can achieve high standards in most content areas. . Teachers need to look at their ELL students as individuals with background knowledge, a culture, and prior knowledge. The goal of bilingualism is to teach the student English while appreciating their native culture including their ability to speak, read and write in their home language.
