Just like in Fahrenheit 451 this shows that the advancement of technology can make people less social and
Jurassic Park views technological improvement as potentially dangerous, while The Killer Angels portrays that technological advances can help a great deal. Although the technology in both novels are different, both advance in their own ways. The advance of warfare technology in The Killer Angels helps the Union Army defeat the Confederate Army, a good thing for them. On the other hand, the advance of scientific technology in Jurassic Park ultimately fails and brings doom to everyone in the park. These conflicting views on technological advances in these novels can be related to the modern age that we live in today.
Scientists have been creating numerous inventions for human in order to make our lives easier and quicker, within all the inventions, a good amount of them have actually caused millions of deaths and injuries; making people starting to rethink whether scientists are responsible for what they have/are going to invent regarding the consequences the inventions may lead to. In the book Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, this question has became to the most controversial topic among readers. The answer for the question should be a solid “no” due to the following reasons. Firstly, the intension of scientists while they were creating a new invention was definitely not to cause any harm but to make the world a better place for us human beings; second of
Humanity’s Separation from Nature The gray unhappy air surrounds civilization as the pollution of human creations and discoveries tears us further and further from our natural beginnings. Nature no longer encompasses us with sunshine and beauty, left alone we become monsters in our outlook and attempt to take control of power we were never meant to have. With the use of drugs and the constant striving for upmost power to create living from dead we have destroyed our natural roots. Natural processes slowly disappear from the world around us, in Brave New World the Director says; "Bokanovsky's Process is one of the major instruments of social stability!" During this revolution, there were many great philosophers who made incredible contributions to science and changed the way people look at the world around them. Polish priest and astronomer Nicloaus Copernicus published his book On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres which assumed that the earth and other planets revolved around the sun instead of the previous belief which said all the planets and the sun revolved around the earth. There is people committing crimes. That is only natural for people to become desperate and rob each other when it comes to survival and you have basically nothing you are going to fight to survive. In his definition of Global History Mazlish talks about how globalization resulted in advanced science. How it wasn’t a single civilization that sent rockets into space but a collection of nations combined efforts that allowed for this to be possible (3). German, Russian, and American scientists were all critical in development of space technology. During World War Two the Germans developed extremely advanced rocket technology, later the Russians were able to adapt this to send the first satellite into space and then finally the Americans were able to add upon all of this to send men to the moon. This Mazlish would describe as falling into the realm of Global History because of the way it was humanity's effort that got us to the moon, not solely the ambition and technology of one civilization that got us there.
