Thirdly, they can address issues that did not exist in the time of the Apostles. This is important as Catholics can’t find these problems in the Bible. In order to be able to do this, they must keep up to date with the lives of today’s Catholics. On the other hand people may disagree with me, firstly because in order to become part of the Magisterium, you must first be a bishop. It takes a long time in the Catholic Church in order to become a bishop, in turn a member of the Magisterium.
There is a strong emphasis put on keeping those in the fold of the Church and going out and recruiting the heathens who do not come to Church. Instead Billings has so graciously broaden the prospective to show the Church that the people who are not coming should still be a part of the Church community and their needs are just as important as those inside the Church. The greatest opportunities for the Church are when the ‘outsiders’ decide they have a reason to come and use the Church as a resource. They may need the Church for a baptism, a wedding, or a funeral; these opportunities are great to show that the Church bears life and is there to support them. The present society appears to have an identity predicament with the Church, because there is a tremendous amount of self-help propaganda in this society; therefore they simply do not care about a commitment with the Church, but can read about how to be better people in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Catholics believe that only good works from people was the only way to get to salvation, but Luther was trying to make people know that you do not need to pay to be saved you just got to follow God’s rules, be good, and follow Jesus´ footsteps. Luther translated the New Testament so that people could learn about Jesus and his teachings. The church back then made Catholics fear God, they did this to take advantage of Catholics and make them pay money to the church. Luther always said that Go was never going to leave us and that he was going to be always with us. He also preached that when the time was right you will go to eternal salvation and not doing by paying.
I have 4 siblings, all from the same background with the same upbringing but we couldn't be more different. This just goes to show that you should never stereotype. Everyone is their own person which makes everyone unique. We often have differences of opinion, we have learned over the years to listen to each other as well as voice our own opinions. My Mother is Church of England and my Father is a catholic so i was bought up to choose my own prefences in faith.
The article, based on a passage by R. Paul Wolff, addresses the topic of belief in religious creeds. The author states two ways of thinking. The first is that a person thinks there is no reason for believing in any religious doctrine. The other argument is a person does believe and has a personal commitment of faith. The author concludes that the person who has no faith in religion could watch religious debates go on and never be affected, either positively or negatively.
I can stop my personal attitudes or beliefs from getting in the way of working with children by respecting what they believe and what their attitudes are towards my belief. I have many ways of stopping myself from telling other people about ,my belief or boasting about it. I can try and join in with the group of children or staff and let my attitude or belief take its course in what they think of it but not fighting back in what I strongly believe is right. My main belief is Christianity, I go to church every Sunday. I have a belief that when a child gets older they have to be baptized but I wouldn’t let this enter the workplace because I would respect the child’s belief and what they think of Christianity.
This is where churches are run like a business and they compete against each other, which creates lots of improvements to get new people in. In England, however, there is very little choice, its more like if you are religious and a Christian, you have very little choice but to go to The Church Of England. Another reason why membership and support in religious organisations has declined in the last 30 years is because it is very rare for a child to be brought up religious. Parents and Grandparents have their faith, but opt not to force religion onto their child, instead they would prefer to let the child choose their beliefs themselves. In todays modern day, it is very unlikely for a child to choose to be religious.
And I think all the other folks did too. They come to church to share God, not to find god” (Walker 188). In some ways I agree with Shug but in others I disagree. I agree that church is about sharing God with others. On the other hand, I disagree with her when she says that people don’t go to church to find God.
In most jobs, you probably can't just walk up and get in someone's face about Christ. You have to be sensitive to the situation and open to the Spirit opening the door. We are not supposed to go out and try and convert the non-Christian soldiers, but if they ask about Christ, chaplains are free to share what he/she believes. This means that evangelism begins with simply getting to know the soldiers in any military unit, loving them, serving them, and letting them know that Christian chaplains, hope and strength comes from
He had answered many of my questions about my faith and what I believe is real. This does not mean that this book has changed my values and views of my religion, however has made me a more devote person to my religion. I agree with Paine as well that we are always contradicting ourselves. With my church group, we always say that we fit the Bible stories to fit and suit our need, but always show our true devotion. These stories are to be taken with a grain of salt and not to be take as seriously as they are being taken.
