Music is a way of communication. It says what words cannot. One moment it has an extraordinary ability to entertain millions of people, but at the same moment it could have someone weeping over a heartfelt lyrics, or a perfect chord hit by a symphony orchestra. Music is something that brings us together. Music gives us purpose and makes us feel less alone. It comforts us when there’s a bump in the road, and excites us when a speck of luck descends upon us. Finally, music is what triggers our memories and moods. To me music is what keeps me thriving. It lets me show my passionate side in a way that nothing else does. When I play my music I can be honest with myself, and I don’t have to hide from anything. Music is what makes me feel alive and free. It is my armor that makes me invincible and nothing can hurt me.
Being a part of the Barracuda band for the past three years; has allowed me to experience new sounds, new people, and a new attitude each year. I have learned that leadership has a major effect on the outcome of our goals; and that we can’t change the past, but we can always recall it. When it’s time to look back on my days of being in the Barracuda band, I want to be sure that I’ve left my mark. I would do this by using strong leadership skills and leading my section to strive to be the best, with no excuses. I truly believe that the Barracuda band is all about two main things unity and pride. Without both of these things widely showing, the band program would fail and fall apart. Unity can be built but pride must be earned.
