What Music Means To Me

I first encountered music when I was young. My dad, who is a classic lover, always played music in the morning and our family started off our day with it. I think I wasn’t really interested in the music itself before I went to piano academy and saw lots of pianos. My brother got lessons from there and I remember that I bagged my mom to let me get lessons, too. I don’t know why but something really wanted me to play it. As I grew older, I started to forget the passion I had for the music. However, when I went to America and saw my cousin playing piano, and saw the Japanese animation Nodame Cantabile, I really wanted to play it again. I was amazed of the many different quality of sound one instrument can make. I think music is a gift from God and it is something that is always with us. Music has variety of definition. Most known definition would that an art that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. I agree with this. Music can be also known as worldwide second language. With music, people can communicate and express their feelings to other people. That’s why people from variety of countries go to other country to listen to the performances. By music, one can express sadness, happiness, joy and so on. Music is everywhere. Tapping the foot, tapping the desk, and clapping could all become part of music. I remember a movie called August Rush where, the boy has a extreme talent for music and he hears music from the New York City. He finds the beat from shoes, cars, and birds. We are surrounded by music but we sometimes ignore that and usually don’t recognize it. Music means a lot to me. I always listen to music. I used to like classic music but now, I enjoy pop songs and K-pop. I get encouraged, get sad, and become happy from listening to the songs. Sometimes, the lyrics seem to match me
