To find a need of the people for a particular product or service and expand on it in order to make a profit is what many entrepreneurs do to start their company. A perfect example is the formation of Five Guys Burgers and Fries by the Murrell family. Their desire to focus on providing the consumer with quality burgers and fries have led them to be very successful in a short amount of time. This paper will determine how Five Guys’ philosophy sets it apart from other fast-food chains.
Jaeger and Macfie (Jaeger & MacFie, 2010) states, ‘if a product is personally relevant to consumers, they are more likely to become involved in gathering information about the product and with the product itself’, this level of involvement is measured as high or low. Therefore, the involvement theory is the understanding that consumers will go through certain ‘more or less’ (2003) activities when making purchase decisions. McDonald’s ‘build your own burger’ campaign strategy further enhanced the level of involvement the consumer had with the product compared to what they were used to. However, whether consumers perceive McDonald’s as more ‘feasible exchange partner’ (Dwyer et al., 1987) compared to other options or not, was determined by whether the customer’s experience with the online platform, was a positive or negative one. The situation is very ironic because the grocery stores with nutritious food advocates for fast food restaurants that are, in context, competing with their sales. Prices of fast food products appear cheaper than full home cooked meals. On average, costumers pay four dollars for a drink, a burger, and a side item. Additionally, fast food is fast. Each fast food corporation has special procedures to keep their paying costumers happy by giving them exactly what they asked for, fast food.
White Castle began in 1921 by founder Billy Ingram and the White Castle hamburger is introduced in the market. The name White was meant to describe the company’s purity and cleanliness and Castle signified strength and stability. According to the company’s recent press release, White Castle was the first fast food hamburger chain, founded in 1921and now operates more than 400 restaurants in eleven states (2010). The original success of the company was in its marketing because before 1921, the hamburger was an undesirable product (Goldberg, 2010). In terms of fast food restaurant life span, even twenty-five years in business can seem like an eternity.
When a family goes out to eat out at McDonalds, they buy meals that are extremely over portioned or "meals that can easily make up to half of their recommended daily intake of calories"(Brownlee 1). Restaurant's commercials appeal to the much younger generation. It makes them want to go eat there and usually get the toy that comes along with that Happy Meal. That's where parents need to step in and say no, instead of giving in and taking them to go eat since it's an easier option. According to David Barboza, author of "If You Pitch, They Will Eat", "increase in food marketing to children has closely tacked their increase in weight"(5).
What Makes You Choose McDonald’s? I’m Lovin’ It is the international campaign slogan for one of the most popular fast food businesses in the world: McDonald’s. The yellow arches have become a symbol that is recognized globally. Currently, the McDonald’s corporation is the world’s largest chain of fast food restaurants that serves nearly forty-seven million customers daily through thousands of restaurants in one hundred and nineteen countries worldwide (CITE). Their mission is to be their customers’ favourite place and thing to eat, and too improve their operations to provide the most delicious fast food that meet their customers’ expectations (CITE).
The reasoning and logic that a Big Mac is read as the food of a college student is that many students get sick of the cafeteria food and look for other options, but without going too deep into their pockets. This also helps low-income families and it is an easy way to get a meal. The evidence and analysis links back to the main idea of the paper because it gives an insight into why the Big Mac is so well known and liked, as well as it shows how it appeals to people through ethos, pathos and logos. The evidence supports who would be seen eating a Big Mac because the people who would be eating a Big Mac is someone who can not buy expensive food and need a quick and easy meal. It’s a special bond that every child connects to. As years progress, McDonalds grows more and more. Back in 2003, I loved to watch “Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald”. I would spend most of my time watching Ronald McDonald with a group of friend trying to stop ‘Hamburgler’ from stealing the burgers. It’s a very unusual perception but it’s the way fast food corporations would grow so much on business.
If students would have known that fast food ingredients were found in our school lunches. It would be superior for them to go to a nearby McDonalds during lunch to obtain a better deal and also an appetizing lunch. Sadly, students don't have this knowledge of basic nutrients, or what products goes into our school lunches. Central Valley should create a Home Economics class to teach the basics of nutrients because it will benefit their students lively hood in the
