Leadership to me means the ability to invite and inspire people into collective and constructive action. In order to do this I have to attain four things: social intelligence, initiative, setting a good example, and inspiration. These do not come naturally, but are acquired through continual work and study. A truly great leader is continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills. I have come to discovery that being a leader, you will encounter different situations, whether good or bad and it is up to you as the leader to make the right decision.
A team needs to have clear agreed measurable goals that they are all working towards, they need to understand the why, how and the importance of the goals they are working towards. They need to know and understand each other’s strengths and weakness to enable them all to best utilize each other’s skills. They need to be able to trust and rely on each other there needs to be a common aim towards continuing improvement learning and commitment. They need to have a strong support network. Teams need strong team players to perform well.
I am trustworthy, respectful, have a good reputation, and am responsible. If something is expected of me, I try my best to live up the expectations and strive to do even better. I am true to my word and can be trusted to complete a task on time. I am also a respectable person suited to be a leader. I have good communication skills.
The ability to lead effectively is one of the most prestigious and highly desired traits throughout history. The success and accomplishments for groups of all sizes is often directly related to the efficiency of their leader. A leader is someone who not only can inspire and help a group to reach their common goals; but is willing to take on such action and responsibility in doing so. A true leader is able to separate oneself from the rest of the group to set the example. They demonstrate the very characteristics that are sought out to complete the tasks at hand, clearly identifying and living by these values.
• Uncompromising Integrity – Must be consistent throughout all aspects of a leader’s life. • Goal Oriented – Able to see the bigger picture and able to set goals to achieve by certain dates. • Committed and dedicated hard worker – The leader puts just as much if not more effort into work as they expect from their team. • Level headed – An effective leader will be able to manage emotions and make the right decision not being swayed by emotions • Good at working priorities – there is a difference between just being able to prioritise and actioning those priorities. An effective leader will do both.
A sense of humor appears irrelevant but sometimes a little joke with the team can go a long way. What is your personal philosophy of leadership? The leader must be part of the team he or she is leading. Leaders have to listen to the team’s opinions and ideas and analyze the situation prior to make any decision because the leader’s decisions affect the entire team as well as each of the team members. The leader must always think about the most good for the most people while still working toward a common goal.
To be an effective leader requires traits that are either inherent to a person or can be learnt. The traits that make an effective leader first begins with respect; a leader will treat all people with respect regardless of their position within the organisation. Secondly, a leader will empower their team by encouraging people to push their boundaries further and further for success. Effective leaders will also take accountability for their actions; they never make excuses when something goes wrong. When something does go wrong a leader will take immediate action to solve the
George does not care about Lennie’s situation and he trust in him as Lennie trust in George. In chapter four, the George says, “A guy needs somebody-to be near him” shows that people need other people to be strong and take better decisions. No matter who is that person and how smart is he or she. George does not care about who Lennie is and he considered Lennie his friend, showing that intelligence is not everything. All Lennie actions show his innocence.
I believe that as a senior carer I have great responsibility to be a role model for all team members. My team members working under my supervision learn professional knowledge, skills, good attitude and proper behaviour from observing my work as a team leader. I have to make sure that I work as hard as possible or even harder as a team leader to give good example to everybody else. Giving example to others is one of biggest responsibilities of mine and I need to make sure that I am giving very good example so everyone else can learn from me. I know that good leader is one who also inspires other team members by my deeds which contribute in positive outcomes.
" Trying very hard to do something pleasant for other people, they really want to go out of their way to make someone feel welcome" (Weston 2). They have majority of what they want, so you're just an extra annoyance they don't need in their life. " Outstanding leaders are the ones who go out of their way to boost self-esteem of others" ( Sam Walton). The best of people and some leaders are the ones who stop focusing on themselves by helping others with their struggles. Some may say they don't go out of their way because they are shy or scared, so for some people it would be a huge jump.
