As I have learned from my music class” harmony involves the vertical aspect of music, that is, tones of different pitch that are sounded together”. Since, harmony is two or more pitches sounding simultaneously I can we no doubt say that during the concert the music’s harmony was intact, I think the combination of pitches did go together well. Form is essential to every art; it is the constructive or organizing element in music. During the concert each section or movement of the symphony has a formal design but also ultimately relates back to the theme or plot of the whole work. As I said earlier most of the pieces that were performed are patriotic, and as we all know music in our century is very developed, and especially with technology every sound of the professional music is almost close to perfection, the Boston pops 4th of July to me fall into the contemporary historical period of music.
Both musical performers incorporated unique musical elements such as melody, harmony rhythm to mention a few. Lowell Lieberman performance was very captivating through his exhibition of passion throughout his musical circles. Throughout his musical performance, Liebermann makes imaginative use of rich and varied harmonic rhythm. His performance shows a classical theme from the beginning to the end. The mood in Lieberman music made the entire room gloomy whiles the melodic lines made the room flowing, the rich harmonies in his music made the room surprisingly striking.
While each group showed differences in musical style, they all displayed great skill and magnificence in their compositions. My favorite piece in the concert was “God Bless the Child” by Billie Holiday and Arthur Herzog, Jr. This piece was performed by the Strickland Quintet and consisted of a tenor saxophone, piano, guitar, drums, and bass. Unlike the previous fast paced pieces performed by this quintet, this piece started off with a slow, adagio, tempo. From the beginning, the performance caught the listener’s ear, as the saxophone played lead, followed by a soft hormonal background from the other instruments.
What is significant is that music has the ability to shape, motivate, and inspire a person’s emotions easily, and effectively. A lot of people usually take this into consideration, but not as deeply as I in this matter. I am confident that my overall experience is a much clearer and better one as I now get the importance of music’s role in our
Hu Zhenqi 24 June 2011 MRLC Mr.Ryan HOW BACH’S STYLE IS DISTINCT FROM VIVALDI’S Bach and Vivaldi are two of the most well known composers in the Baroque period. They have similarities and differences in their style of composition. This essay would focus on their differences in style. Their styles are different in many ways and most people would focus on their use of melody, harmony or rhythm but this essay would focus on their use of basso continuo. The way Bach uses basso continuo in his music is what makes Bach’s style distinct from Vivaldi’s.

Of course, the orchestra played it beautifully, that I was not worried about. Never having heard of this particular piece before I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The piece, in my opinion, can best be summarized as all the emotions and colors of a full symphony compressed into eight minutes. From the allegro to the andante, and from the forte to the piano, this piece encompassed all that one would look for in a piece to overview the orchestra.
Freedom is the music that not only I, but many others, dance to. A melody so strong that unites us all to acknowledge the beat it sings. And not a song of morbidity forced upon us, but a Song of Glory and Pride that sways us with its beauty of Rights. Freedom, the breath of America, is something that we all should be so grateful for. If you really think about it, we are one of the few countries that have freedom, liberty, and independence.
This counterpoint masterpiece demonstrates some of Mozarts most serious compositional techniques. In the Concerto for Clarinet in A major, K. 622, The first movement is in classical sonata form. The first subject (or theme) is stated by the full orchestra in its lengthy introduction. The solo clarinet is invited to join them, playing the theme a fifth higher. This gives harmonic support to the orchestra, which consists of two each of flutes, bassoon, french horn and strings.
Guitars, Bass Guitars, Drums, Vocals, and much more were all used and still is used today. Guitars may have approved a lot since the 1950 with guitars making tons of new sounds compared to 1950 guitars had one job, but today music guitars do a lot more. The drums are a huge hit all around, everybody loves the drums and the drums have not really changed. The only thing that might have changed is the drummer and his or hers talent to play them. These instruments all have one purpose and that is to help with the music.
