What really defines art? Countless people make a case over the answer to this on going question. There are several different interpretations as to what is considered to be a ‘work of art’ per say. There are many different types of artwork. Some believe that anything and everything can be art, while some deem that it takes talent, creativity, and a sense of imagination to construct true art. In my opinion, I believe anything can be a piece of art, and does not essentially need a definite or specification to be declared artwork.
Art is what it means to you, what you want it to mean to you, and what it can mean to you. There is no right and wrong opinion on what artwork is. A civil engineer may see a bridge or skyscraper as a piece of art, while a fashion designer views his or her clothing line as artwork. Some theories link beauty to formal qualities such as symmetry, simple geometrical shapes, and pure colors. An artist does not necessarily have too paint or sculpt. For example, bodybuilders view their body as artwork. A bodybuilder may think he needs more symmetry or definition on certain body parts, just like a sculptor would mold clay to what he or she visualizes their finished art work resembles. An artist can be anyone that turns imagination into reality.
Beauty is greatly related to our attitude about art. Many of us imagine that a work of art should be picturesque, but not all has to be portrayed this way. Abstract art may not be easy on the eyes to some, but the story or feelings the picture holds is the true meaning. To me, art is a way of displaying imagination and feelings.
