What Is a Good Education

When a couple has a baby their lives drastically change, new routines develop, new goals are set and new responsibilities come into play. The parents are responsible for educating their child so her or she becomes successful in the world. When sending their child to school they have to assure that the education will be beneficial for his or her child’s needs. This makes many parents wonder, what is a good education? A good education consists of three parts, being well rounded, taking all opportunities and wanting to be better. If a student is willing to take these steps to a good education it is known to make learning affective, resulting in a superior education. When it comes to education, being well rounded is one of the most important factors, as Francis Bacon stated, “To spend too much time in studies is sloth” (53). By this bacon meant that specializing in one subject is not a bad thing however there is more to life than just one subject. One needs to study various topics and be familiar with numerous subjects. Bacon’s point is clearly proven accurate by the school system. Public school systems require their students to have about 130 credits. In order to fulfill the credit requirements many different subjects must be taken such as english, math, history, science, business and even an art class. Richard Feyman is another author who agreed with both Bacon and the public school system, Feyman stated, “with more knowledge comes a deeper and more wonderful mystery” (225). With this new mystery being attained it opens up many new doors that the student will be able to explore and pursue, they will have time to discover their likes and dislikes which will help them narrow down or specify their goals for a future job proving their education successful.
