What Are the Characteristics of a Good Student? Students come in all varieties. Some spend their entire education goofing off and then trying to cram before every assignment. Some students just don’t care to learn and are only in school because they have to be. These students don’t pay attention at all. Many students don’t try at all. They are happy with coasting through their education. A good student is diligent or makes a steady effort, pays attention, and always tries their best. The good student makes a steady effort to listen, learn, and apply learned principles. This student reads and studies his or her work every day. Homework is studied daily. The diligent student is prepared for each assignment, whether in class or at home. Diligence makes for true learning. This paves the way for learning. A good student pays close attention in class by listening and taking neat and precise notes. This includes studying in a quiet environment where the student is able to concentrate and absorb his or her assignment. Not all students are geniuses, but a true student always tries to the best of his or her ability. This student will truly learn. A student who yearns to better himself or herself takes pride in his or her education. Nothing is wasted on students who try their best.
