I think what makes a good student is a hard worker that is going towards success and not following but leading. Another thing that makes a good student is someone who has good behavior, works on their school work, participates and puts forth effort. Another example of what makes a good student is somebody who takes a risk at class work they don’t know. That’s what really makes a good student because if they try hard and practice they will become a success. Those are the things I think make a good student.
A teacher with high expectations for his or herself will ultimately pass that quality on to their students. Caring comes naturally for great teachers. When a teacher genuinely cares for the students entrusted to them, they are able to reach them with greater ease. Great teachers make their classroom a place where caring is the norm. In a climate of care, students are more inclined to take up for each other, protect each other, and teach others how to care.
An effective team starts with positive leadership. We have recently had a new Head Teacher at our school, and already he has had a huge impact upon teamwork and moral in our day to day lives at the school. The Head Teacher, through each line manager, makes each team member aware of their roles and responsibilities. He is respectful of each person individually which helps us to feel valued. It is also important for other members of the team to be equally as respectful and to consider the ideas and opinions of others.
They, too, can be reflective learners; it has been stated that "Among the best things that you can accomplish in your work is to help children become more reflective themselves, more like fearless truth seekers, constructive risk takers, and inquiring thinkers"(Kottler, Zehm & Kottler, 2005, p. 136). A reflective teacher is the one who, by time, becomes highly professional in addressing his or her students' needs intuitively and efficiently. Reflection also supports what Deborah Meier (1995) calls the power to care. It emphasizes the positive attitude and leads the teacher to recognize clearly all what is needed for the good of students. On the other hand, keeping ongoing reflection avoids the teacher from being rusted-out and makes him/her up-to-dated with the learners' urgent needs to pursue a successful school life.
As well did I when I first read Gatto's piece against school. But after reanalyzing this article I was able to pick it apart. By going to school you are able to learn and improve the skills you need for future commissions. But Gatto refuses to believe in the public school educational system. Gatto says that school diminishes creativity; if anything kids discover their hidden creativeness in class while at school.
According to the authors, millennial students were influenced by a unique set of culture, such as hard work, supportive parents who desire the best for their future. Even with these positive qualities, millennial students also give difficulties to their teachers, counselors and the administrators at high school and college levels. This commitment models the expectations for the staff and proves that I, as a principal, must strive to create a school culture that has a positive influence on life and learning in my school.
