Her mom intended dinner starting on Monday for the next weekend. Since she didn’t drive, her husband took her shopping every Tuesday for all the provisions she needed for the dinner. Availability and freshness of food and herbs determined how long the shopping trip would be.
I would like to propose a toast to my best friend Joy Kentish. For those of you that don’t know Joy and I have been best friends for about 7 years. We met our 10th grade year in high school at Tampa Bay technical High School. We were in drivers ed together and I was so nervous because it was my first time driving and we were partners. She told me to relax and just have fun but not too much fun.
I was born into this world July 7th, 1995, I didn’t get to choose the family I’d be put into, but I can now say I was put into the best possible family. My first memory of growing up was on a Sunday Afternoon, it happened to also have been my 4th birthday. If you’re Italian, you will definitely know what Sunday lunch is at Nonna’s house and if you’re Italian you know that birthdays are important. I guess this is why I remember this day quite well. Walking into Nonna’s house smelling homemade sugo(pasta sauce) being dumped onto the fresh pasta she had probably made that very day was the best!
My brother was into drugs which he began doing at age sixteen, which means he was doing them for half of his short lived life. We still needed to find a way to my house, and my sister was trying to get out of work, so she had her friend Kristen pick us up and drive us there. Kristen came to the door crying and that’s when it hit me. This was not a joke, my brother died, he was gone. The fact that I was never going to see Bugga again broke my heart into a million little pieces that I couldn’t pick up and put back
Some families like to bake specific things like a passed down family recipe of a sweat potato dish or like the Williams family, a big bowl of homemade mac and cheese and cornbread stuffing. Grace is the grandmother in the Williams family, and she is a typical grandmother. For example, watching over Audrey, her daughter in law, cook and have lots to say about it. Grace notices that Audrey is not making a bowl of mac and cheese and she is not too thrilled about it. Grace acts this way because she clearly wants to keep her tradition going.
In 1952 on Francine’s tenth birthday, her birth parents, Fred and Feonia came to see her. They told her all about how they could not handle her when she was younger, but they still love her and would be there for her anytime and that they was sorry for not coming to see her sooner. On Tuesday, September twenty-fifth, 1952, the day after her birthday, Marguerite, Francine, Fred, and Feonia all went out to eat then went shopping for the rest of the day. For the remainder of the week Fred, Feonia, Francine, and Marguerite went shopping, watched playes, and went to the park. Then over the weekend there was a terrible accident and Fred and Feonia died.
takeera Barfield Comp& Lit It was a hot sunny day in June the day was after my 10th birthday I will never forget I had woke up really early that morning before my mom, my dad, my brothers and sister in fact, I didn’t even get much sleep the night before because I was super excited . I don’t remember eating breakfast that morning and I always eat breakfast but of course I didn’t care I just wanted to leave. I thought the day would never come but it did .Every year before that we’d plan our big family trip to Disney World but something always came up and we end up not going but that year we were actually going and I couldn’t believe it.
I started to go to community college for a little while but couldn’t seem to stay focused on anything but getting messed up with my friends and nothing really bad had happened, meaning no consequences for anything so why not keep on partying? So I did that for another year and squeaked thru a year of community college and decided I was gonna go to Culinary school in Santa Barbara because I loved to cook and had worked at a pizza place thru high school and that year of college. I was good at it and why not make a living doing it!!! Plus everyone partied!! Excellent decision I thought.
