Water Used In The World

Water is necessary in our live. The way we use water affects the quantity and quality of water. For this reason, we should use water effectively. The following two diagrams give the information that how rainwater is re-used and world water use. Firstly, Diagram 1 shows how rain water is re-used. At first, when it rains, some rainwater falls into the dam and some falls on the roof and flows into the rainwater tank besides the house. Rainwater can be used in two ways by households. On one hand, the rainwater in the dam then flows to the water treatment plant where rainwater is transformed to drinking water. After this, drinking water moves to the house and is used. On the other hand, the rainwater in the tank is used by the household directly. Next, the used water moves to the wastewater treatment plant. After passing through the plant, some water is recycled and used by the household again. Finally, other water is useless and becomes excess treated water, which flows into the river directly. This is the whole process of re-use of rainwater. Next, Diagram 2 indicates the striking increase in the number of world water use between 1900 and 2000. At the beginning of the twentieth century, reservoir losses, municipal, industrial and agricultural use of water per year were both less than 1000 KM3. By 2000, figures for the former all increased dramatically. From 1900 to 1940, the reservoir losses and water used in municipal area rose gradually. There was a dramatic increase in reservoir losses in the 1960s, and at the beginning of 1980, reservoir losses reached a peak. The municipal use of water went up sharply after 1940 and increased to about 3500 KM3 in 2000. Both industrial and agricultural use of water grew sharply during the last century. The increase of reservoir losses was a great deal quicker than that of water used in agriculture after 1940. In addition,
