The issue that I choose to research is water pollution. Water pollution is a horrific problem all across the world. Water problems are the highest among all environmental issues because of the effect that it has among everything from drink, fishing, and all other aspects that it affect. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,) the average American uses between 140 to 160 gallons of water per day. The Earth itself is made up primarily of water, only 2.8 percent of this water is fit for consumption. The more the Earth's population grows, the more important it is to fight both against water pollution and for water conservation, to ensure that future generations have enough fresh, clean water to consume.
It's imperative to know what water pollution is before we get any further into the prevention of water pollution factor. Water pollution refers to anything that changes the composition and the physical, biological or chemical properties of water. These can be brought about due to the contamination by harmful substances. And what are the effects of water pollution? Other than not having safe water to drink, it can also lead to varied waterborne diseases like dysentery and diarrhea and can even prove to be fatal eventually. And it is not just humans who are harmed by water pollution, water pollution leads to overall harm to the ecosystem and the varied organisms in the ecosystem. Plants, animals, fish and other organisms are also affected by water pollution. And if the ecosystem is destroyed, it has a direct effect on the human race itself. It's all connected that way and that is why understanding some ways of preventing and stopping water pollution becomes extremely important.
Water pollution intensified with the advent of the Industrial Revolution, when factories began releasing pollutants directly into rivers and streams. In 1969, chemical waste released into...
