Water Crisis Essay

Imagine being thirsty yet you cannot find a source of water and when you’ve finally found one, you cannot bring yourself to drink it because you think that you might get a disease from drinking that. Most of us do not pay attention to this thing simply because we think that we still have plenty of it but in reality, the future generations would have to focus on that matter and by that time, it would be too late. Right now, more than 1 out of 6 people lack access to safe drinking water. With the world’s population continuously rising and with the increasing industrialization/urbanization, demand for water has been escalating and water sources are becoming scarcer. But the real problem lies on how people waste their water. The World Water Council indicated in their World Water Vision Report that there is a water crisis today – “a crisis of managing water so badly that billions of people - and the environment - suffer badly”. My concept map revolves around that problem. The flowing water from the faucet represents how we use our water - we waste it. We do not turn the faucet off; we let it overflow. But of course, wasting water does not only take the form of a faucet overflowing. There’s also the dishwasher which uses lots of water, car washing with a hose and many more. Even when our toilet is leaking – that’s a form of wasting water even if we do not know it. The faucet in the poster represents every source which emits the water. The concept map is just simple and the direction of it is from left to right. The water gets out from its source and then we waste it and ultimately, the water crisis happened. The flowing water was made of slogans against water crisis. All of us can do things to help solve water crisis. Turning the faucet off when you’re not using it can already be a help. Water is part of life cycle and we need it so much that we’ll die without it.
