The warhead cable dilemma case discusses the moral dilemma an employee faces in a work environment when the employee has received an unethical direction from the management. This case looks at the effect of an unethical behavior of upper management on employees. Mr. Stanton should approach the situation by wearing a hat of socially responsible person. Out of the 10 warhead cables that were tested, two were found to be defective (Lawrence & Weber, 2011). He should put a HOLD on the current batch so that it is not released to the customer. Mr. Stanton should approach the customer’s inspector and explain to her that while testing the batch, they found some anomalies. He should further inform the inspector that the company would like to have some more time to ensure that Bryson Corporation releases the highest quality of product. Current CEO of Bryson Corporation is well known for buying companies that are not performing well and turning them around into profitable business (Lawrence & Weber, 2011). The CEO had appointed Harry as a plant manager and was happy with the progress Harry had made at the plant. When Stanton approached Harry with the problem of defective cables, Harry instructed Stanton to ignore the problem. This instance shows that Harry is an egoistic individual who cares only about the bottom line and is striving for operation excellence while overlooking product quality and integrity. His values are in line with the CEO; his goal is to make a profit for the company. On the other hand, even after two days of deliberation, Stanton was still in a dilemma regarding how to handle the defective cable batch situation.
