Instead of worrying about the pay off the students should be concerned with developing all they can intellectually. The author then expresses their feelings towards multi-year contracts. They tell how tenure plans which would be more beneficial. They believe that professors have no motive to improve their skills when rewarded with tenure plans, for themselves or their students. Another thing mentioned in the article that people who come to teach in a college that are not actually considered teachers.
“By tying grades to money, we give students incentives not to take risks” (Vogel, 392) that stop them from choosing challenging courses in college. Students find easier courses through word of mouth or websites that previous students rate their professor in. I always ask people who previously took the course I am interested in whether or not I have a chance of passing the course with a C or higher. Students are afraid of putting their grade point average at risk because the grade point average is a component of the application process that helps colleges decide who to accept. .
I would help the child to see that just because their parents and grandparents are education to a certain extent, doesn’t mean that’s how it has to be for them. I would encourage them to set their own goals and to work toward creating their own identity. Another way that I would help these students overcome generational poverty is to help them set goals, both short term, and long term. I would help them set some serious goals for their life and for their education in hopes that those goals will stay in their mind and push them to work as hard as they can to be successful and overcome the life that generations before them have laid out for
While unemployment systems are good places to find people looking for a job, those that apply may either not fit into the Tanglewood mold or will move onto another job before the process is over. Tanglewood needs to target those candidates from local high schools and colleges which will prove to be possible management material as they continue in their educational careers. By targeting those that don’t absolutely need a job right now, they will be able to carefully select the right applicants. Recruitment costs will be low too because the money will be moved to retentions costs by providing education assistance. 3.
Murray and Ungar Synthesis In the many recent debates about how to approach higher education, one issue that has constantly appears is the question of students benefiting from a liberal arts based education. Some argue that a liberal arts education is helpful in teaching students the basic life skills, others claim that a more specific field of study is necessary in order to b successful in life. In Ungar’s essay “the New Liberal Arts”, he claims that with a liberal arts education, students can benefit tremendously when they receive their jobs. In Murray’s essay “Are Too Many People Going to College”, he proclaims that a liberal arts degree is not highly recommended because the more difficult careers want students to take classes that are more specific to a job. Sanford J. Ungar and Charles Murray both conduct and display their own opinion towards the facts they learned through their own strenuous research.

Don’t the children and adults still obtain money, food, and clothing because of the participation of students? They do. The organization for charitable acts encourages students who under normal circumstances wouldn’t volunteer, to help. Our students in the 21st century don’t recognize the idea of helping or volunteering without receiving commodity in return.
How can Beres prove that the money is really going to waste? How does he know that those funds aren’t being used to help the medical students get a better clinical? I agree that every student deserves to get into their “dream” college, so not only will the common app help with get there but also help start them with the path they need to be on. Just because so many of the applicants who applied didn’t get accepted doesn’t mean they weren’t being given a chance. I wonder what percentage of those students who didn’t get accepted withdrew the opportunity themselves because they couldn’t afford it once they got accepted.
Herbert supports this thought stating “I don’t think Mr. Vander Ark was engaging in hyperbole. The public needs to understand the extent of the high school dropout crisis, and its implications for the long-term future of the U.S”. Educators all over the world are perplexed at the idea that students should be able to use Wikipedia as a credible source. Two college professors wrote two essays with completely different view points on the issue. On the side against using Wikipedia as a scholarly source is Professor Neil L. Waters with his article “Why You Can’t Cite Wikipedia in My Class.” Then on the opposing side of the argument is Professor Mark A. Wilson with his article “Professors Should Embrace Wikipedia”. Huxley Graduation Pledge Proposal: May 3rd 2013 This is a proposal to administer a voluntary pledge for Huxley graduates. The pledge would be a personal consideration highlighting social and environmental responsibility within their future careers. The pledge encourages students to make choices about their employment; it showcases effort in educating values and citizenship within the workplace and brings forth a sense of direction illustrating that society should be concerned about more than just the bottom line of material success. To make this project successful student engagement is essential. Promoting the opportunity for students to pledge towards sustainability will be a huge portion of the project’s effort.
