This allowed young people to see a world not as readily available before and in today’s contemporary society with new music genre’s increasing; there has also been an increasing demand for music videos to accompany it. In this essay I will be analysing music videos in one of music’s two most popular genres – Hip Hop and Rock. These two genres differ and this translates not only musically but visually. I am to investigate whether these two genres fit the stereotypical criteria of the media, or whether they have been portrayed in the wrong way -hypothesis the stereotypical view (elaborate) -i have used both primary and secondary research in order to carry out this investigation -focus group (use quotes) - Hip hop music videos have always been a controversial topic amongst audiences as it is a genre that is known to exaggerate and encourage a patriarchal way of living which many female audiences would be opposed to. This mainly consists of wealth, power and beautiful women which are the goals of most youth in today’s contemporary society – in other words: The American dream.
Every person has at least one favorite artist or band that they will always listen to and sometimes music can give another person an idea of what the person is like. When it comes to rap and hip-hop music many people can relate to what is being sung which will then give the listener different ideas on what is the right way to act towards the people they are around. There are countless songs on the radio today that deal with sex, crime, money and drugs. Some may think that this is the life but to others it just disgusts them. The way kids talk to each other in and out of school can be directed towards what they hear on the radio and what the rap artists sing
Drawing his inspirations from the Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac; Pyrex Jones aims to follow the same loose and easy flow. He also wishes to incorporate some of the social problems including: hardships, difficulties of violence, and some of the ethnic and racial dilemmas. This transforms into a huge fan following because the common listener could easily relate to this kind of music. Instilled with a real hustler’s ambition, Pyrex Jones has been making buzz locally with mixed tapes such as Microwave Music 1, Mafia Muzik, and various videos and performances.
Both kinds of music are very similar in almost everything, but the lyrics have changed a LOT over the years and through the uprising of hip hop music. In the beginning hip hop music was criticized and thought to be bad influencing type of music with now skill involved, which really changed how the artist
It has been especially noticed by my friends that I use the word ‘dude’ very frequently, this could be due to the fact that American phrases are being passed on more easily than before through the internet, making it easier for teenagers to pick up. A factor that I mentioned affected my speech was gender. While exploring my own language use I found that I am more comfortable around my own gender than with males, I believe this to be because of the school that I attend. As it is an all-girls school with mainly female teachers I have grown up in an environment that is mainly female dominated and I think this has affected my speech greatly. I have noticed that I tend to speak faster and use hand gestures while at school as girls tend to talk a lot and over-lap each other so it can be hard to get your point across in a conversation if you don’t make your point quickly.
The fans are able to compose and remix their own music and sync it with the vocaloid. This allows us, the audience to experience her singing the songs composed by the fans. Also because she is a public figure, many other people use this to make their own songs and allow her to portray a different image with a different song. Fans are almost in total control of her image, we can see that her character is being manipulated by the fans through music and physical representation. Because an underdressed teen appeals to the majority of the public in this genre, her physical appearance is kept to be a young teen.
“I just want to be on set again and left alone to just work! FYI-I would never steal...also what I wear to court shouldn’t be front page news. It’s just absurd. God bless!” (ET) We once had heroes of all ages in our world who people thought of great importance and influence but, as the world changes around us so do the hero’s that once had an impact on our life’s. I think it’s because our cultures and society change so often that these hero’s tend to change to.
In 2000’s teenage society most of the teenagers confirm too many things because they want to fit in. all the things they do, the brands they wear, or even sometimes the words they use to communicate. It’s all different ways teenagers try to confirm and be part of the teenage society. As evidence “Kristin Houghton” states in the article “Sadness of Conformity” “we don’t celebrate who we already are because according to the statistics we want to be like everyone else” (Houghton, 2). That quote is showing how people don’t praise their individuality because they always want to be like someone else
The media has the gold; therefore the media makes the rules. Whether we like it or not, a vast majority of us use it to enhance our own sense of belonging and obligation to become a better person, but only, however, if we look a certain way, or drive a specific type of car. It’s what drives us to be who we think we are and/or what we think we want to be only because we allow it. At such an early age girls are taught to play with makeup and frilly dresses while boys are taught to play with Legos and mud. Tradition and upbringing also plays a huge part in who we will all eventually become.
Lastly, my life experiences have shaped my identity it has shown me what to be grateful in life and how in blink of the eye your world can change so quickly. I can remember in our youth field trip to third world countries, the people there had so little and treated it like it was so much. It just made me reevaluate and ask questions is “Why do I tend to get mad when I do not something?”, “Why do it never seem like enough?” It made me realize there are bigger things out there in the world than myself. Personal Identity is the distinct personality entity. Personal identity is what makes you unique.
