A parent may have been murdered and a domestic homicide review will need to be taken, this comes under the Domestic Violence Act 2004. Or it can be a child been harmed from another child or adult. After the reviews the LSCB will order a report from an independent person who will have all evidence and make recommendations. The local authorities must then notify Ofsted of every incident involving a child that is serious enough to then have a serious case review; this is whether the child has died or has serious harm from abuse or neglect. Serious case reviews will have the importance of, sharing information and communication, keeping an correct timeline of events, overcoming the problems of hard-to-reach families, clear planning and roles, good assessments of the child’s case, working with agencies that parents may be getting services from and early acknowledgement of a child that is in need of protection by services.

The suicide rate of children between the ages of five and fourteen is eleven times higher than that of twenty-five other countries. Some would say that the United States of America is much too violent. Abuse in America is very bad. An abuser is five times more likely to kill an abused woman if he/she owns a firearm. In addition, in the states with a higher rate of gun ownership, the gun death rate is seven times higher than other states
In the United States death by homicide ranks at number 15 in comparison to health conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, cancer, blood poisoning, etc. (LeDuc, 2013)This is a high rating when put in perspective that in most cases one cannot control contracting most illnesses however man can control murdering people. In 2011 8,583 deaths occurred due to the use of firearms. (Simon, 2013) This is the type of statistical data that our officials use to form opinions on how weapons impact our society. The focus seems to be on the mechanism (the firearms) rather than who uses the mechanism.

That’s half a million more than in 1998. An alarming statistic from Mothers Against Drunk Driving is that more college under-graduates will die from alcohol related causes than will receive a masters or doctorate degree.
