In Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals, explores the pros and cons of eating meat, and one example of this is whether or not we should serve turkey on Thanksgiving. Foer feels that we take advantage of thanksgiving, and that we use that as an excuse to kill another turkey. He feels as though we could do thanksgiving without turkey, and it wouldn’t be any different. I on the other hand argue that there are many reasons we should eat turkey on Thanksgiving. One of the reasons we should serve turkey is because a lot of turkey is made every thanksgiving and letting it go to waste would be a sin itself.

To me, this means they were prepared earlier but sat too long because a waiter/waitress forgot about them. The bar was out of wine but no alternative beverage was offered. Two additional requests had to be made for silverware and napkins. The manager was sought and Mr. Wallace was given a second serving of cannelloni but the rest of the family ate their cold meals.
Conventionally raised cattle have long been fed fats and proteins along with grass and grains; it helps them gain weight more quickly. Unfortunately, much of the fat and protein they’ve been fed in more recent times comes from other animals. This to me is a huge ethical issue; we have gone from letting our cattle naturally eat grass, which they have always done, to changing their diets to something completely different. The FDA still permits cattle to eat feed containing byproducts of pigs, fish, chicken, and horses, among other animals, to promote weight gain. This weight gain is not necessary, it is just desired because cattle can be slaughtered at a younger age and more meat can be produced.
Carter argues to support or enhance the key issues that eating meat is right based on superiority, self-consciousness, reasoning, moral capability, rights, duties, and sentience. Carter shows that the statement that animals have an interest in their own lives and that we should not treat them like things is a cornerstone in many vegetarian theories. But then he questions this argument in that even the smallest insect has an interest in its own life, but you do not see people actively opposing the killing of all living creatures. He also questions the statement that animals can even make this assertion and are not just living out of basic instinct. And, although a creature may try to stay alive, is it doing so out of the fact it doesn't want to die, or the basic instinct that it has to stay alive.

Nowadays vegetarianism is promoted widely since people are concerning beauty and healthy. Also, some animal-right defenders are trying to save the animals by not eating them and be a vegetarian. In traditional, human beings are classified as omnivore since we eat meat and vegetables as food to gain energy and nutrition in general. In 20th century, some researches stated that vegetarian has a healthier life and longer life span. However, do vegetarians healthier and have a longer live-span than meat eater?
Those who still eat beef are, in my view, foolishly exposing themselves to the risk of contracting the horrifying human version of Mad Cow Disease. Add to those hazards the fact that if you eat meat you may be consuming hormones, drugs and other chemicals that have been fed to the animals before they were killed and you can see the extent of the danger. No one knows precisely what effect eating the hormones in meat is likely to have on your health. But the risk is there and I think it's a big one. Some farmers use tranquillisers to keep animals calm.
Although pesticides and antibiotics are heavily used to keep poultry chickens protected from diseases. Moreover, recent studies have shown that excess of protein intake in a person’s diet leads to the loss of bone calcium as meat eaters generally get for more protein then they actually need or can use. So, in order to live a healthy and long life span one should switch from non-vegetarian to vegetarian or vegan diet. On the other hand, most vegetables are naturally low in fat and calories. Vegetables are important sources of many nutrition including potassium, dietary fibre, folic acid.
A debate for the consumption of meat affecting morality has been a hot topic for a long period of time and still lot of arguments are going on regarding this topic. The word morality in Collins Dictionary (2015) defines as the system of principles and values concerning people’s behavior, which is generally accepted by a society or by a particular group of people. So the topic is whether morality has any connection with vegetarianism. To start with, the nature of all human beings is to adapt omnivorous diet. Moreover, a major part of human body demands nutrition that can only be obtained from non-vegetarian diet.
