Vegetarianism is the practice of a diet that excludes red meat, fish and poultry. There are numerous variants of the diet, some of which also exclude eggs or some products made from animals such as dairy products and honey. There are various reasons for this diverse thinking, the most common of them being the geographical, racial and hence cultural factor, but can include economy, politics, or health. Properly planned vegetarian diets have been found to satisfy the nutritional needs for all stages of life, and large-scale studies have shown vegetarianism to significantly lower risks of cancer, heart disease, and other diseases. So why is vegetarianism debated as an issue?
Well, is a vegetarian diet healthier for humans? It has been forced in a pyramid-shaped way that we should eat five or six portions of fruit and vegetables a day, but without adding some meat or fish it is hard to make sure the body is getting the protein and iron it needs to be healthy. Meats are an easy and reliable source of protein, an essential building-block for the human body. However, eating a varied range of cereals, fruits, nuts and vegetables is a vegetarian way of getting all the vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein your body needs. Vegetarians overcome the issue of getting the proper amount of protein through several different sources including leafy greens, tofu, assorted beans or nuts. Additionally, a non-vegetarian lifestyle has a significant health cost which follows: hypertension, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, gallstones, obesity and food-borne illness. A vegetarian diet also helps prevent diverse cancers, as seen in hundreds of studies. According to them, there are over three dozen different plants that you can consume that have cancer-protective properties.
