Valentine’s Day Valentine’s Day or Saint Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. In the west, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending valentine’s cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The holiday became associated with romantic love in the circle and mutual exchange of love notes in the form of “Valentine’s”. Valentine’s Day is a day of love, romance and of course, the market place. Lovers across the world buy roses for their sweethearts. Marriage ceremonies are popular and roses are a pricey gift on Valentine’s Day because of St. Valentine’s life and death. The cause of Valentine’s Day started with a priest named Valentine who lived in home during the third century. Valentine’s Day is celebrated annually with fervor in memory of martyrdom of Saint Valentine. Initially the day was celebrated in USA and UK only. But with the globalization and increasing technology and media coverage, there is hardly any part of the world where it is obscure. Though, there are many versions of the festival. In some countries it is related with commencement of spring, while in others it is celebrated as an agricultural festival. Today Valentine’s Day is one of the major holidays in the world and has become a booming commercial success. According to the greeting card associated, 25% of the cards sent each year are “Valentine’s”. As Valentine’s Day cards are better known as, are often designed with heart to symbolized love.
