Last but not least, I would like to give examples and give my point of view on the word sociology, such as what does it mean to me! First, I would like to define and explain what sociology means to me! Sociology explores people and society. It examines our social institutions; our families, the state and social relationships like gender and ethnicity, to help make sense of how we both see and interpret our rapidly changing world. Sociology examines how our behavior individually and in groups is influenced by social processes and what that means.
Social Location Paper Social location, as defined by James M. Henslin’s Sociology: A Down-To-Earth Approach 9th edition, is the group memberships that people have because of their location in history and society. More plainly Henslin defines it in context as “the corners in life that people occupy because of where they are located in a society” (Henslin, 2011). Cultural explanations are that there is a difference just simply because people are in different classes. This can be simply because of cultural capital, or lack of it, or access to money, which naturally the upper classes have more of than the lower class. Cultural explanations such as upper class people know more about health than the lower class could be the defining factor in health inequalities. The fact that the upper class may simply have a better attitude towards diet and exercise may be the reason that they are healthier and live longer. Another reason could be that the upper classes have a higher cultural influence on doctors, and that doctors may be more likely to believe symptoms earlier of those who are in a higher class so that they are able to be treated more quickly with more success.
Wilkinson and Pickett explore two of the most common assumptions about the social gradient that shows people at the bottom of social hierarchies suffer more problems- circumstances and individual tendencies. The authors, in critiquing the material explanation to societal problems, argue that richer nations should do better than poorer ones. This is a flawed argument, as national wealth does not indicate its distribution. A generally wealthy nation may have poorer diets, less educational opportunities, or worse housing in comparison to a less wealthy nation. Wilkinson and Pickett also give reason as to why everyone in a society should be concerned about inequality, not merely those vulnerable to the problems with which it coincides.
Sociology is a social science that seeks to understand complexities of human society. Sociological theories are ideas that seek to explain how society works. There is a wide range of sociological theories in terms of their priorities, perspectives and the data that exist or encompass the endless ways of viewing reality. In order to determine the nature of man, to be outside the knowledge of his experience, ambition, qualifications of values refer to the community in which he grew up and is shaped. The impact on the personality of the individual, it has the characteristics of participation in the life of the community.
Compare and contrast any two major theoretical perspectives in Sociology Sociology is the study of human social life, groups and societies. Through sociology, we are able to understand the structures and dynamics of our society. In our society, we have institutions, which are basically organisations that exist over time. Although people may change, the structure continues to exist. Examples include the family, education, religion, and economic and political institutions.
Entire social classes are shaped by these macro level problems and changes. Changes to conflict on a macro level seem to me that they can cause endless fascination to people who study humans like sociologists because there has been many various attempts at explaining macro conflict. In contrast modernization theories have a more modest goal, which is seeking to explain what happens as contemporary societies undergo industrial, political, and urban revolutions. So from learning about the macro level I have come to the conclusion that rules and statuses exist in society to provide social control and or social order. The idea that social order is a necessity to survive is a certain perspective that focuses upon the Macro level of conflict.

Owning high-level sociability makes people easier to success in globalized world. Because information means a lot to individuals and organizations in today globalized economy, and the delivery of information need the ability to make and use social networks. For example, a person who is low on sociability will be shy or unassertive when he faces an interview.
People who are considered as being handsome or beautiful in society are regarded to be of higher status than those who are regarded as being ugly. Other features of the body such as height and body size also influence the person’s perception by others in society. Physical appearance gives someone the confidence in the environment that they operate within. Physical appearance might not be the only determinant of how high or low someone may be classified in terms of status but it is very crucial. Other factors also come into place.
