From the Ethical Lens Inventory I have learned that I value equality. I think this is true for the most part because I like to see everyone being treated as equals no matter where it is. I know in some situations like the work place for instance, this is not true. Certain bosses like to choose favorites and let them get away with certain things that others can not get away with. As much as I hate to bring it up; I believe that race has a lot to do with how certain people are treated.
It is the process of identifying, understanding and breaking down barriers to participation and belonging. Discrimination Discrimination is when a person is treated less favourably due to negative views or assumptions of that person’s characteristics. People tend to discriminate based on opinions and often have no basis for their assumptions other than stereotypes. A person may be discriminated against because of their age, gender, culture, race, religion, disability, income or family structure. There are many examples of discrimination in history.
Equality Equality is when everyone is regarded as the same regardless of individual factors; equality protects people from being discriminated against for being ‘different’. Discrimination in equality can happen in relation to a person’s race, sex, health, religion, family, age, politics, disability, culture, sexual orientation or beliefs. Equality is about a society that is fair where there is massive potential and opportunity. Equality isn’t about having the same income, the same size house or the same amount of wealth; it is about treating people fairly because not everyone can be extremely successful. Diversity Diversity is the ability to accept and respect an individual regardless of who they are and what influences their lives.
Discrimination can also happen in-directly for example; a trip is planned and a service user needs specialist equipment to participate, the trip planned can not provide the equipment needed. This results in the service user being unable to go. This service user has been discriminated against. In supporting a persons equality we are treating that person as our equal, understanding that they have the right to be treated fairly and with equal opportunities to education, housing, employment and health and social care. This can help the person to feel valued and not set apart from others, this in turn will reduce any discrimination.
Therefore it consists many factors which are visible or non-visible, which include personal characteristics such as background, culture, personality and work-style in addition to the characteristics that are protected under discrimination legislation in terms of race, disability, gender, religion and belief, sexual orientation and age. By recognizing and understanding our individual differences and embracing them, or by moving beyond simple tolerance, we can create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued. Equality: Equality- is about treating people fairly, regardless of their differences, by ensuring that they have access to the same life opportunities as everyone else, i.e. that they have equal chances. Life opportunities including: housing.
Here, Lanston could be criticizing white society as a hypocrite. The white culture encourages people to be who they are, celebrating for those who truly perform themselves; nevertheless, the society is actually intolerant of differences. Huges reinforces the irony by stating his background information such as his age, skin color, birthplace, schools he attended, etc, to show that he, a black, knows who and what he truly is, mocking the prejudiced white people’s artificial behavior. The second stanza shows Hughes’ view that a black and a white are equal. For example, the line “I guess being colored doesn’t make me not like the same things other folks like who are other races,”(Huges, 2271) shows the very idea
“Individual qualities and experiences that constitute the unique makeup of every human being are often overlooked as a result of social stereotyping.” Whether these stereotypes are about religion, race, or even gender, it doesn’t help society prosper. For homosexual black males, it is extremely common to hide their sexual orientation because of the fear they will be humiliated. One identity that derives from homosexuals having to hide who they really are can be seen in the study of “many contemporary African American gay men believe that they must be homophobic and divide their sexual identity from their black male identity in order to be accepted and to maintain a high ranking in the hierarchy of men. It is through this logic that
A project manager who have both technical and people skills would be the best program manager that anyone could hire, but this is not always the circumstance. If we were to somewhat sacrifice one of the two attributes, it would have to be the people skills, but only to a certain extent. People tend to stay away from managers who have poor people skills. Managers who have better technical skills will be the most successful in the end. The team manager will be in charge of managing the processes associated with the software developing; this will be his main focus and priority on the project because after all he/she is the person who is going to be held accountable.
When one is underrated, he can strive to become better, to prove others wrong and reveal his full potential, and should it fail, there is nothing to lose. In our daily lives, it is not uncommon to see how a new employee might be underrated when he first enters the enterprise. In fact, being underrated by his colleagues and his boss might become an advantage for him to progress. If he makes any mistakes, there will be less severity or criticism, so it is nothing-to-lose case, but if he does work that is good, he will be complimented because everyone will be astonished of how well he performs his job. Going back to historical evidence, in France of the eighteenth century, there were social classes which were strictly divided: the noble, the bourgeoisie and the poor peasants or the proletariat.
If they do not have honesty how can anyone believe in what they say or do. Honesty is an important quality of a good leader because that is letting others know they can trust them to say the truth and have honest opinions. Honesty and reliability is two quality that makes a good leader. Without these qualities a leader would not b trusted in anything they do or say, people would not rely on them for help. As stated leaders are those qho help others and lead ther way to good society.
