Ungifted by Gordon Korman is a story about how all kids face pressure academically and socially, but can ultimately change themselves. One example of this is when Noah who is the smartest kid at the Academy is exposed to YouTube. Noah uses it relate to the Hardcastle students. Noah even looked at a clip on YouTube on how to fail math because he wanted to be like the kids at Hardcastle. Noah says “I found a clip on YouTube called “Failing Math.” But when I watched it, it was completely unhelpful. They didn’t teach you how to fail math: they taught you how to pass!” (101). Another example of this is when Donovan gets his first grade back from the Academy. The grade has a D-minus on the cover and he is immediately taken back. Donovan soon realizes that he needs to step up his grades when his biggest effort on a assignment since Kindergarten got a D-minus. He usually wasn't grade-obsessed but after spending all that time on the assignment he suddenly started to care about his grades. My last piece of evidence is how much pressure Abigail puts on herself about academics. Abigail is so adamant on getting good grades that she's keeping half the tutors in the city busy. Abigail also gets defensive when Chloe ask Donovan what dances are like. Abigail immediately says they're a pathetic waste of time. These are all accurate examples of how all kids face pressure but can change in the long
