1 Understand diversity, equality and inclusion in own area of Responsibility. 1.1 Explain models of practice that underpin equality, diversity and inclusion in own area of responsibility. In my role as a team leader it is my responsibility to ensure all individuals, their families, friends, staff and those working alongside me in partnership are treated equally and that they are all treated with dignity and respect. There are many legislations in health and social care which is used on a regular basis these include: * Equality Act 2010 * Care Homes regulations 2001 * Care Standards Act 2000 * The disability discrimination Act 1995 * Race Relations Act 1976 * Human Rights Act 1998 * GSCC Codes of Practice for both Employers and Social Care Workers * The Mental Health Act 1983 etc. DIVERSITY & EQUALITY POLICY The purpose of this policy is to provide diversity and equality to all in employment, irrespective of their gender, race, ethnic origin, disability, age, nationality, national origin, sexuality, religion or belief, marital status and social class. All employees, whether part time, full time or temporary, will be treated fairly and equally. Selection for employment, promotion, training or any other benefit will be on the basis of aptitude and ability. All employees will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential and the talents and resources of the workforce will be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of the organisation. As a team leader it is my job to promote individuals rights, choices, dignity, and making sure that their independence is maintained at all time. Also a big part of this includes promoting empowerment and showing each individual the respect that they deserve.
