The steamboats really helped with trading goods with other countries. This new form of transportation was very efficient and easier than using regular boats, which helped economically. Another form of transportation was the railroads. Railroads changed the United States economically and socially. They got people and materials around faster than other modes of transportation did before.
The rapid growth of old and new industries led to a population migration from rural to urban areas. The agricultural industry was another of the industries that faced a lot of changes, mechanisation meant better yields which therefore meant that, less agricultural workers were needed. There is evidence to support and contradict whether or not those economic developments did in fact threaten the power of the elites. There is evidence to support the idea that the economic developments in Germany in the period 1900-1914 didn’t pose a threat to the power of the elites because economic growth and the opening up of new industries bring many benefits with them. While it has been argued that an exceptional economic growth caused some problems, the advantages that came with it, outweigh the negatives.
Tory governments of the 1820’s introduced reforms due to many reasons. One of the most notable reasons would have to be of the revival of the economy in the early 1820’s. Also, there was less discontent and unrest within Britain, economic conditions improved, there were good harvests, unemployment decreased and bread became cheaper, so as a result of this, it became very easy for Tory government to introduce reforms as Britain was succeeding. Another main reason for the Tories to introduce a reform would have been the fact that Britain had now become an increasingly industrialised nation in which the new middle class, factory owners and bankers were asking for a larger say in the government of the country. At this time in 1820, the Tories
Cullen Herrington Mr. Barnes U.S. History per. 5 2/2/09 1920’s Essays The 20’s were a time of change, innovation, and excitement. New inventions and social actions led to a very energetic generation. Creative social, progressive economic, and mixed cultural ideas were the base of the greatness of the decade up until the Great Depression. Each category had it’s own additions to society but sometimes they ended up being “clouds” in what seemed to be a never-ending blue sky.

In Britain, during the time period from 1750-1900, the offering of new services and products greatly promoted trade among the nations. The reconfiguration of the steam engine design coupled with the availability of inexpensive steel meant that sailing ships which were slow and obsolete could now be replaced with faster steamship. The ships could now handle more trade and utilize smaller crews. Also moving to the forefront were chemical industries. A man by the name of Michael Faraday is responsible for forming the foundation of electric motor technology during this time, as he discovered electromagnetic induction and invented electromagnetic rotary devices.
The early days of the Industrial revolution from 1800 to 1837 are a big change for America. It is principally a transformation in the economy due to the creations of new industries. Indeed, America shifts from an agrarian handcraft economy to a modern and technological one. However, even though the industrial changes brought economic advantages, it also brought stratification among Americans. In one side there is the working class fighting for his rights, and on the other side middle and upper class seeking their profits.
In the 20th century, the automobile was a welcome change to American life, as it granted workers and families a new mobility and thus a new sense of freedom and urgency, and we became a nation excessively dependent on our cars. More than anything else, the car was the symbol of American post-war prosperity. However, that prosperity has cost us, in various ways, the American dream. Whereas we once thought of cars as the epitome of personal freedom, more and more we are becoming limited by the expense of that freedom. The American Public Transportation Association estimates that it costs a resident of the Boston area, for example, $13,000 a year to own a car.
The most significant of these factors included social change, technical/ scientific innovations, economic transition and prevalent ideological thought. Each of these factors had an affect on the other, although its pace varied in the different countries within Western Europe. These convergent forces, including the development of maritime enterprise, allowed the domination of the evolving global economy by Western Europe. Social Changes There were slow social changes that eventually made the market system possible and brought about economic change. Adam Smith stated that we always have a predilection to “truck, barter, and exchange one thing for another.” There has never been a society which
DBQ 12: The Industrial Revolution: Beginnings The Industrial Revolution started for many reasons. It was because of the resources and where they were located. England’s land was no farther then seventy miles away from sea in every direction. (doc 4) It was a good way for transportation of the goods and getting resources giving them.
