Many of these kids think they’re on the right track because they pass classes and are moved along with the rest of the class. These kids lack reading, math and other important knowledge they will need after high
" Trying very hard to do something pleasant for other people, they really want to go out of their way to make someone feel welcome" (Weston 2). They have majority of what they want, so you're just an extra annoyance they don't need in their life. " Outstanding leaders are the ones who go out of their way to boost self-esteem of others" ( Sam Walton). The best of people and some leaders are the ones who stop focusing on themselves by helping others with their struggles. Some may say they don't go out of their way because they are shy or scared, so for some people it would be a huge jump.
Not everyone wants that much help! Teachers, quit making me take notes all the time! There are certain teachers that will grade you on your notes, calling it a participation grade. That has got to be the biggest load of crap I've ever heard! Many kids like myself are blessed with the capability to understand and remember things just by actively participating in the class discussion and listening to their teachers.
Although God created us all equal that is far from how your peer groups accept one another. There would be less teen suicides if each group simply accepted each other and their differences, not alienated each other. Some believe high school cliques can be demeaning and cause lifelong trauma to one’s self esteem. The popular group of kids is made up of the jocks, cheerleaders, and designer dressing young people who normally walk around thinking that grade’s and other people’s feelings does not matter. This group is usually your more attractive, stylish, snobbish group.
Erica Goldson Valedictorian Speech Response Erica Goldson brought up a very controversial and very interesting topic about our current education system in the US. She states that students are so focused at memorizing data and getting good grades, that they miss out on the whole idea of learning and being educated. I agree with her, students should be learning and absorbing the material, instead of memorizing for the next big test and just forgetting about it later on. Graduating seems like the top priority in students nowadays, and to me that is just upsetting. And the students who are very talented and are very motivated to learn and be driven in a non-academic subject seem to have a more negative image than the people who are driven by academics.
While this statements sound so simplistic, it’s really being lost in the world of teaching. While trying to keep up with testing standards and needs of students, we as teachers must make sure that we are not creating ignorant thinkers. As teachers we must accept that we don’t have all the answers and that just like students, we are constantly learning. When Dr. Wayson was speaking, I couldn’t
Some students get so worked up about the test they can’t even get through it (par.3). Even though the article “Standardized Tests” states that “testing is a normal and expected way of assessing what students have learned and the vast majority of students do not exhibit stress and have positive attitudes towards taking a standardized test like the FCAT,” (par.10). J. Lang Wood, author of many short stories and author of“Negative Effects of the FCAT” begs to differ. According to Lang Wood she claims students are exposed to a “climate of continuous stress” (par. 2).
There I attended Johnson Primary School. When I had left my previous grade school, I was excelling in every subject and absolutely loved school. I quickly began to hate school once I started at Johnson Primary. The children at Johnson Primary were learning math in a different way than I had been taught. Although I was getting the correct answers, they believed that I was figuring out the
The gang and its members become truly a surrogate family. Leaders are quite skilled in drawing in new members by promising money or drugs to, by intimidating, or by acknowledging vulnerable and impressionable teenagers. In the end, a gang produces loyal gang members, having not long-term aspirations, and do not consider the consequences of their gang-related behavior. Several reasons may be attributed to juveniles joining gangs. However, one of the primary reasons of young people why the join gangs and commit violence is to gain recognition in the community.
Gangs are very materialistic and always have nice things (Recruit Their Members). It’s no surprise that we see more and more people joining or wanting to be in a gang because of this reason. It’s very sad to see greed get the best of a person. By far the saddest reason is peer pressure. Young teens have a large target on their back because most gangs look for them to be new recruits.
