With reference to the recently published curriculum framework, identify how needs in the Tyler model are being identified and pinpoint the stated proposals being considered. In 1949 Ralph W. Tyler wrote a book bearing the title The Basic Principles of Curriculum and Instruction. In it he defined school as that institution providing students with objectives; and education as an activity involving reflection. He based his curriculum model on objective-oriented theory. He did this by asking four major questions as shown below. But in this writing I am going to elaborate on the first one. 1. What Educational Purposes Should the School Seek to Attain? 2. How Can Learning Experiences Be Selected Which Are Likely to Be Useful in Attaining These Objectives? 3. How Can Learning Experiences Be Organised For Effective Instruction? 4. How Can the Effectiveness of Learning Experiences Be Evaluated? (Tyler, 1949) This model in case evaluation has also its drawback because it does not have a feedback mechanism.
