Much of Frank Lucas’s childhood life explains his motivation for living a life of crime. When he was 12 years old he witnessed the death of his cousin by the KKK for looking at a Caucasian woman in Greensboro, North Carolina (American Gangster True Story). Being young he was committing petty crimes until he engaged in a fight with his employer. He fled to New York where he drifted through petty crimes and pool hustling until gangster Bumpy Johnson took him under his wing. After Johnson’s death, Lucas broke the monopoly that the Italian mafia held in New York.
I did a little extra research over the movie just to get some of the other facts maybe they couldn’t put in the movie because of length. Clarence Brandley is an African-American who, in 1981, while a janitor at a high school in Conroe, Texas, was wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of Cheryl Dee Ferguson, a 16 year-old student. Brandley was held for nine years on death row. After lengthy legal proceedings that ended in the Supreme Court of the United States, Clarence Brandley was freed in 1990. Suspicion immediately fell on two of the custodians, Brandley and Henry (Icky) Peace, who had found the body.
His first brush with the law was on May 25, 1969, when he enticed a 9-year-old Bronx girl into his car and drove her to a vacant lot. He removed his clothes and hers, but a passing police car interrupted the crime. Charged with attempted rape, Rand pleaded guilty to sexual abuse and was sentenced to four years, although he only served 16 months. Back on the street, Rashan legally changed his name to "Rand," logging three more arrests by the end of the decade for "minor" offenses, including burglary. Along the way, his name was linked with disappearances of several children.
LOCAL RESIDENT WINS MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT In November 2008, a local resident, Mrs. Louise Mallard, was awarded $11.5 million in damages in the retrial of a libel case she brought against a local television station after a news report identified her husband as the victim of a mob beating at a local Reading Railroad Terminal. In May 2002, WCCS-TV, a Selma television station owned at the time by MultiMedia Communications, falsely reported that railroad employee Brently Mallard, husband of Louise Mallard, was the victim of an abduction and beating by organized crime figures. The actual victim was later identified in a broadcast by a rival television station. The misidentification arose when
Miranda v. Arizona For my study case I chose to do the Miranda v. Arizona. This case’s was about a Mexican named Ernesto Miranda who lived in Phoenix, Arizona that kidnapped a girl and raped her. Afterwards he dropped the girl off near her home. She called the police and “described her attacker as a bespectacled Mexican, late twenties, who was driving an early 1950s, either a ford or a Chevrolet.” He was later arrested at his home and was put in a line up and was identified. “He had a long history of emotional instability and criminal behavior, including a one-year jail term for attempted rape.” After he was identified he was taken to the interrogation room and investigators were questioning him for two hours.

Just some of thoughts the people of Liverpool must of had in 1993 when youngsters, Robert Thomson and Jon Venables abducted toddler James Bulger from a shopping centre in Merseyside and beat him to death on a railway line. After serving eight years for the murder of two year-old, James Bulger, one of his killers, now Jon Venables, was given a new identity to help prevent possible revenge attacks towards him. But now he will be given another new identity after being recalled to prison. The identity will cost the taxpayer £250,000 to ensure he has a national insurance number and passport and £1 million per year for probation officers to pay close supervision on his release. Any taxpayer in the right mind would be up in arms over this.
