Major Contributors to Astronomy Tycho Brahe is known for his accurate and comprehensive astronomical and planetary observations.Tycho Brahe was a Danish nobleman that made vital contributions to astronomy by inventing instruments to observe the sky before the invention or the telescope. In ancient times, Greeks believed that the sky was unchanging and that the stars they saw in the sky had been there since the beginning of time. On November 11, 1572 Tycho saw a star in Cassiopeia that he had never seen before. After a seeing of observations, he realized it was a supernova, which is a death of a massive star. His observations of planetary motion, mostly that of Mars, gave important data for astronomers to come, like Kepler.

All human achievements and progress are simply the products of thought. The evolution of culture, art, literature, science and technology are all the results of thinking” (Raghunathan, 2001). “Good critical thinking is skillful and responsible thinking in which you study the problem from all angels, and then exercise your best judgment to draw conclusions” (Sies, 2007). Critical thinking has an effect on all aspects of life in every component; as a parent, as a professional, as a spouse, and as a student.

The ideas discussed in the Declaration are identical to the ones still practiced in society today. Because the document's very nature allows its meaning to change with time and circumstances, the Declaration of Independence remains a very relevant statement of America's interests and principles. As a student at a Catholic school, I take the values of my faith very seriously. One of the most important statements made in the Declaration directly recognizes the presence of God in American society. "...that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness..." The framers of the Constitution formally indicate the importance of God-given values in the lives of every citizen in America.
Martin Luther King, in my eyes, is considered one of the greatest role models for young people of all ages and races. It's as if no matter where you grow up in the world, wether it be in the U.S. or on the other side of the world, you will come to hear of Dr. King and his work. Another quote I found interesting was, "Injustice anywhere is a treat to justice everywhere. "This is what I think makes him a great role model, because he shows that there are always ways to make a difference, and to be equil is to be one as a whole. I admire and look up to Dr. King and his lessons because I've hurd the stories of struggle and hurt that people, who were just a little different, had to undergo.
The study of astronomy is one of the oldest studies of science. People from ancient times have left evidence of their study of the skies. The Great Pyramids of Giza were built in the same pattern as the constellation Orion’s Belt. The Mayans had made their calendar by studying the stars. Basically their whole life depended on the stars.
Harvey is a leader in the entertainment industry. He uses his talent to encourage and uplift others. Mr. Harvey acknowledges that his life has changed for the better. He gives God all the credit for his success. He clearly lets us know that he is still a work in progress and God continues to work on him.
I asked Peter to sum up his professional life, and he answered “I have been fortunate… privileged even to have seen history unfold at close quarters.” When finally asking Peter what his greatest accomplishment in life was, his response to me was “Bringing up my two wonderful sons to be young men I am so very proud of, and so fortunate to have.” Peter Cave is a great man, who inspires myself and thousands of others around the globe to open their eyes to what goes on in the world. I know that the superior academic instruction I could receive at Calvin College would be just what I am looking for to achieve a meaningful understanding of the cultural and spiritual context in which we live so I can make known the infinite love, mercy, and grace of Christ. I hope as a student, I can be one who challenges my peers to work toward their full potential, and I hope that they can challenge me to do the same by always encouraging me to practice a life of service, and continue to help make my faith my own. To me, the academic and spiritual opportunities that Calvin College offers are equally important to me. As believers, whatever we do should be done for the Lord. I hope that as a student at Calvin I would be able to encourage others because others have encouraged and strengthened me in this aspect.
